It's for an IVA - as long as they're a good company and have a good success rate I'm quite happy to proceed - thanks for your advice x

How will you fund the upfront fees though?

We stopped paying our creditors at the end of August, have been really good the last few weeks so should be able to pay the first one next week -have looked on it as practice budgeting if our IVA is accepted! Vincent Bond have a really good IVA acceptance rate, just hope ours will be ok xx

Will they start working on your case before the fees have been paid? I made 2 payments to Thomas Charles but they prepared my case before it had all been paid.

Yes, they've started working on it - I sent the first batch of available documents on 14th September, and I am hoping to send the rest (depending on receiving them!!) by early next week. I only need to pay one fee by next week, and the second by the end of October, by which time my case should be prepared. So glad I've found someone who has paid upfront fees and been successful!! Did you go for an IVA?

Hi
Many people use companies that charge an upfront fee and many have a high success rate. You are paying for a service and should be able to contact the company easily and have any questions/concerns answered promptly

Erm, I paid upfront fees, but I wasn't exactly successful! I ended up going BR after 4 months as I couldn't afford the IVA, hence me always banging on about not agreeing to something you can't afford!

You'll be fine with VB though, as they have a good reputation and although I haven't dealt with them from what I've heard the service from them is a lot better than what I had.

Andy - glad you've seen my post, I have seen you on the VB website. We've had excellent service from them up to now, got no complaints at all, just reading other horror stories about people paying upfront fees, losing them and ending up back at square one scared the life out of me! We've already been stupid enough to get into the situation we're in, and we just didn't want to waste more money just to end up no better off - hope you don't take this is a negative against VB - hope you understand what I mean?

Unfortunately the nature of the forum is that we hear more about the bad than the good.

VB are reputable, and you're in safe hands with them.

You're completely right - sometimes what you don't know doesn't hurt you!! I'll have to try and stop reading negative posts and keep my hopes up!! I feel greatly reassured - bit daft really, should have only worried if the negativity was about VB, but you can't help worrying can you? By the way, didn't realise you ended up going BR - I'll definitely triple check my proposal before sending it back and make sure we can afford it all x

Unfortunately my proposal was completely unmanageable but I was so desperate to have the IVA accepted that I think I would have agreed to anything.

While it's important to do your research sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
