We are in the process of applying for a IVA so scared that it wont go to plan and it wont get accepted ..And every other disaster you can think about.Sleepless nights and how did i get into this mess and what if they dont help us out ? do you need to see a solicitor to get your signature witnessed ? and how much does that cost ?[:(!] When you get problems and have been robbing peter to Pay paul it just seems to spiral out of control..Just makes me want to sit and cry all day long.

You have nothing to worry about and there are thousands of IVAs every month. If your IP is happy to put forward an offer they must believe it to be a good one.

It is not a blame game and I am sure you will be fine but you can always get a second opinion if you are not 100% happy.

Hi.and welcome.

Firstly, your feelings are perfectly normal, we've all been there. I'm sure your application will be fine.

You don't need to see a solicitor so don't worry about that.

Which company are you using? If you don't understand anything then don't be afraid to ask questions and of course the forum is here for any advice and support you may need.

Welcome to the forum. We have all had the idea in our heads that help isnt there for us all and that for some reason we will be left out high and dry. Reality is that there is always a solution to your problems.

which company have you spoken to and have you taken advice from anyone else?

Hi and welcome. Things WILL fall into place shortly -- it is a bit of a rough ride getting everything set up and going, but, once accepted you can breathe easy and settle in to the rhythm of an IVA.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

An IVA is a great tool if you are in serious serious debt and is a great way to get your feet back on the ground. The IVA process is errm easy, to easy in some respects, you can just sign it and they will do the rest. Take the time to read and understand it, very important you look at any equity clauses and pension position, so don't fear it, aim to get the best from your proposal, don't cut yourself short on your I&E on the basis it won't pass, you'll have to live this new lifestyle for 5+ years and it's a long ol stretch

Any questions someone on here will have the answer

Welcome to the forum mothergoose and everyone of us has been in the position you feel today so you are in good company. Try not to worry and I know that is easier said than done but honest it will be fine. The IVA jounery is like a rollcoaster there and ups and downs and we all feel scared at times. Good luck and let us know how you get on

Your IP could have perhaps explained things to you in a little more depth, in which case you may now be feeling a little more confident about everytbing. There is no legal requirement to get your signature witnessed, but if you have any further queries or concerns about the process then make sure your IP spends time explaining this to you.

Just to echo what everyone else has said. Most of us felt exactly the same when we were at the stage you are now. I worried myself sick about the unknown journey i was embarking on.

Your next stage of worry and stomach churning will be that if like me, you will think that your iva proposal will not be accepted. An IVA co will only put you forward for an IVA if they are pretty sure that it will be accepted by your creditors.

It took great courage to get as far as you got, but it wont be long now before the anxiety and stress cease. The unwelcome phone calls & letters from creditors will cease. MBNA haunted me, wouldnt stop ringing me at work, even asking could any of my work colleagues lend me the money to at least make a part payment.

Chin up and hold your head up high. You have taken control of your situation now and whilst i dont know you or the extent of your personal debt, ive gone through 5.5 yrs from where you are at now to waiting for my completion certificate; so whilst im no way an expert, like my fellow posters, we all know where you are now and the anguish felt.

Start to look forward to the creditor phone calls and letters you dont open drying up almost overnight. And remember when unsure, ask the forum , as we are all there for each other and have the benefit of the professionals to reply when your fellow froum members are unable to give a more factual based reply.

Hold that head up high

I only asked about paying for the solicitor as a friend had a IVA some years ago and he had to pay to get his signature witnessed at a solicitors and he also had to go to London to the creditors meeting..Looking at your posts it seems to have changed a bit since back then.We are at the early stages of a IVA just about to approach the creditors and we do have equity but they wont release it as we have tried that route ..

Best of luck with the offer and I am sure you will be fine. Your IP would not do the work unless they were confident that the IVA would be accepted.
