Hi guys hope ur all well

My daughter is starting school in Sep, and last night I found out her school dinners will cost £9 a week[:0]
Apprently Northumberland have the higest cost for school dinners.
As that will be nearly £36 extra a month, where would that come out of in my budget or is this classed as extra outcome???

xxxx

Hi tinytori, when I did my budget plan, school meals were allowed for. Best check with your IP. Kazzy x

Hi Tinytori

I know what you mean about the cost of school dinners, I am not sure of your circumstances but would it be possible to apply for free school meals. It is worht asking.

Regards

John

Our OR asked if our kids could come home for dinner as it is £16 per week for the 2 of them. She did allow it in the end. They will start packed lunches in September so hopefully that will cost less.
I think it is a disgrace the amount it costs for school dinners, it may be worth asking at your local council to see if you are entitled to free school meals as I'm sure they changed the criteria a couple of year ago to include low income parents, not just those on benefits.
It's nice to be back......

My oh is always banging on about a certain well known chef and how if he had kept his mouth shut then we would all be paying less for school meals. I can honestly say there have not seen many changes in the quality of food just the price.

We too have put school meals in to our I&E.

This is an allowable expense item, and you should advise your IP of the additional costs at your next annual review.

Them school dinners are 10p per day cheaper than we have to pay for our middle boy.
Little boy takes a packed lunch as hes autistic and only eats certain things from certain packaging.

We pay £2.25 per day.

I have tried packed lunches and the sress and upset they have caused lol!

He used to come home with most of his lunch still in his bag. On cooked dinners from school they are 'made' (probably wrong word) to eat more of their lunch than people on their on lunches.
