As the car finance is in your father's name, legally it belongs to him, it does not matter who is the registered keeper at DVLA, in bankruptcy or an IVA, you would not be permitted to pay this for him, he would have to take over the payments himself as he is legally responsible for this debt, lesson...

His IVA is with Grant Thornton and the pressure of rising repayments meant he was facing bankruptcy after 4 years of his IVA and he obviously felt that bankruptcy would be worse than an IVA after all he had paid in, if only he had gotten proper and correct advice, he would have seen that bankruptcy ...

I am not trying to be rude here, but I tell it how I see it, you really should have done more research into IVAs before you took the plunge. The idea is to pay back AS MUCH AS YOU CAN over the term of the IVA, plus overtime entitlement, windfalls and IP fees. In my view, IVAs are not a good idea, on...

something about this story does not "gel",

Here is a quote from earlier in the thread "We have been together for 24 years, since we were 18, living together I mean, a couple. Too long to contemplate one of us leaving at 42."

Now he has another woman and a 4 year old child?

Confusing

What kind of shoddy advice is that, to suggest missing a PRIORITY payment like council tax or electricity in order to pay creditors in an IVA? [:0]

I have to say that I totally agree with PJHughes, and I also think the bankruptcy forum is going the same way too. It is oh so subtle, as is this site, but the touting for business is embarrassing at times both forums used to be for free impartial advice but the constant references to certains compa...

If you are going to go bankrupt, you need to do it ASAP as NR WILL put a charge on your house and they are VERY fast about it too. You just need to ring your local court up, book an appointment, get them to send you the forms or you can fill them in online at www.insolvency.gov.uk I would not let yo...
