Cam you are doing the right thing by addressing your debt problems. You are young and have time to sort it out. My only regret is not doing an IVA sooner. However, I would avoid BR unless absolutely no other option; this could have a more detrimental effect long term than you realise. Speak to sever...

I struggled to buy anything the first month. I was too scared and felt guilty. I felt naughty buying extras in the shopping. I need to replace everything it is a slow process. However, I am enjoying paying for car insurance in one go instead of monthly. I am trying to do things like that as much as ...

I must add that one agency wanted six months rent in advance....which just meant I didn't bother with them. An other agent asked for two months rent in advance which I did. Once I had been in the house a couple of years and moved the next landlord was just happy for the one month in advance. Hope th...

I rented throughout the IVA and moved. Like you say they will do credit checks. However, I just told them upfront what they would find. Never had a problem.

Thank you for the template letter. I received my credit report and duly sent the template letters off. Within a week I have had 3 replies out of 6 already. Quite pleased at how quick they have responded. Especially as one was First Plus and I had a stupidly silly loan with them. Sorry First Plus [:I]

Hi, Has anyone else heard of the above company? They have found my name and address from somewhere and decided to write to offer me help in clearing my files and sorting out PPI (for a fee of course). They want me to pay £2 to the credit reference agencies to get my report then send it to them with ...

I always said the f...

Hi ClaireMichelle and to all who have posted. I see you have been provided with the link for Judith at DFD. I did not have a mortgage to contend with which I believe must slow the process. I think my IVA was quite straight forward. I did not have any problem with VAT. I was concerned about EIF as th...

Hello, I know a few of you have had problems with DFD but I think credit where credit is due and I should highlight DFD positively as this is my experience. My last payment to the IVA went out in May 2013. On Friday 5th July at 4.10pm Judith from DFD emailed me with my completion certificate. A fant...

Hello. You are in the best place to seek help. Like you I paid everyone every month but had nothing left so ended up living off credit cards and just going around in circles. Admitting to yourself and looking for a solution is the best decision you will make. I am not saying it is an easy journey bu...

On Friday I made my last payment to the IVA. I have butterflies in my stomach. I signed PPI papers over 18 months ago and have no house to worry about remortgaging as we had to give it up at the start of the IVA. DFD say our closure should be straight forward......I won't hold my breath but you neve...

Dear Orchid5, so pleased your IVA journey has finally come to an end. Thanks for the updates which I have been reading regularly with interest. In May I pay my final payment to DFD. I have to pay a one-off arrears payment in June but after scrimping and saving over the last couple of years we will b...
