What happens to our monthly contributions?
It appears that we will be paying over £500 each month into an IVA if accepted. What actually happens to this money? Is it kept somewhere until the 5 years is up and then distributed to our creditors or are they paid out monthly?

Yes I think that must be what is meant as they said it was up to the creditors if they wanted to attend or not - they then said that the packs would be sent out to each of them????
If this is the case then I can't believe how quickly things have moved along!!

Hi, had a letter last week from power2contact saying if we didn't call skycard within 72 hours then someone would call round. We rang sky immediately (who we have kept informed all the way). Today at 4.15 someone called round which took me completely by suprise. I rang my DMC who said to never let t...

Hi there, your posting has given me so much hope. Just starting on the road to hopefully getting into an IVA with a 30% dividend. I'm really happy for you because I can only imagine the sense of relief that you must be feeling right now - hopefully it will be the same for us and then I too might be ...

Yes, thank you everyone, you've made my mind up. I was already in two minds but now I've decided not to go.Not realized that once in the IVA we're going to need every penny. What if my washing machine or the car broke down etc? I'm starting to get really scared now. No cards to fall back on and that...

At the time I booked the flights I wasn't in any kind of programme - When I did approach a debt management company I wanted to try to settle a % of the debts owed to each creditor.I didn't tell the company about the card I booked the flights on because I thought I would keep one card. Now I need to ...

Thank you for replying Melanie. The flights were booked some time ago but I have continued to make payments onto this card as didn't decide an IVA was an option until last week. I told my DMC I wanted to keep this card to pay off the balance but he then told me I couldn't as it had to be included. I...

Would it be right to go on holiday in 2 weeks? Not yet into an IVA but a friend offered an apartment abroad so I booked the flights on a credit card I mistakenly thought I could keep. The trouble is I need to pay for car hire on my pre-paid mastercard, will this look bad for me when my IVA proposal ...

I used to look upon credit card cheques as a god's sent. I thought if i wrote a cheque out to myself for x amount then at least I would be able to meet the minimum payments on all my cards for a few months. All they did was get me deeper and deeper into debt - but I always kept thinking something wo...

Is my dividend enough to get IVA accepted? Hi it's the weekend again and this is the time when I start to get really anxious as there is no one at my DMC to answer my questions. Finally worked out my final dividend to creditors. I thought I could pay back 35% but forgot about IP fees coming off. It ...
