I posted a couple of weeks ago re: the possibility of using your pension fund as an asset to offer to creditors. Thank you to Melanie and Michael for your replies which suggested that this might be possible. I've spoken to HSBC (my pension is with them) who have advised me that the minimum age at wh...

I have a pension which I believe (if it were possible to release it) may provide enough funds to reach a settlement with my creditors.
I imagine the answer is no but I thought I'd float the question here anyway... Is there any way a pension fund can be used to settle debts?

Hi Declan, How does this happen though? In my case one of my creditors is HSBC with whom I have a hefty outstanding loan. I believe this is an unsecured loan - can a charging order be applied without my consent? My IVA proposal is being prepared with HSBC as one of my creditors. In fact they are the...

Thanks Andy & Melanie,
Andy - could you expand on 'certain criteria' please?
Is my understanding correct regarding Northern Rock's insistence on 72 month IVAs?

I'm advised that it's possible to separate the two loans and for the Northern Rock to become one of your creditors for the unsecured part whil...

Hi Jan and thanks for your message.
I went to iva.com and both companies I've had contact with appear to be well-rated so thank you for the advice.

Hi Melanie, Thank you for your reply. I believe the debt management company I've been talking to are IPs as well. Is there a way of checking their crdentials? Is there a national association with affiliated members? My bank is one of my creditors but I do have a building society current account that...

Hi All, My financial situation is so poor that it would appear I have no alternative but to attempt to enter into an IVA with my creditors. I've spoken to a couple of debt management companies and had meetings with one in particular. They have presented a solution which seems relatively straightforw...
