Hi, If I were to start going down the IVA process, would I be able to include the 2 CCJs I have? One is an attachment of earnings @ £130 per month and the other is a £5 per month standing order. I have debts of around £50k. The absolute most I could afford is around £250 per month, but only if the A...

Quick question. My partner has debts with Lloyds. When the merge happens we're concerned that the Co-op will be able to raid our accounts to recoup the debt of around £1800. After failed IVAs we're hoping to go BR once we have the funds to pay for it, but to be honest that's a long way off. The merg...

Hi, OK, IVA started May 2010, but failed this March just gone. Massive change of circumstances, not envisaged at the time the IVA went through. I moved in with a new partner (we didn't get together until after the IVA), October last year. Various things happened, but basically my partner lost most o...

The bill was known about as it was in a payment plan in order to pay off the arrears. The arrears was created by under-estimated bills and that she didn't have an account due to the supply being held in limbo for months and months, because of probate when her landlord died, around the time of moving...

Hi Coolconkers, Your old supplier will not be able to cut of your current gas/electric supply. It is now simply another unsecured debt which will be subject to the usual enforcement action (collection company letter, phone call, possibly CCJs etc). If your IVA has indeed failed, you will still have...

Hi, My partner and I moved in to a new home together recently. My partner has outstanding gas and electricity bills from the previous address. Unfortunately, due to a calculation error that took about 3 years to resolve, the electric bill amounts to just shy of £500. We don't have that sort of money...

Not a lot really. Struggling to find £50. She has come off carers allowance and we think now qualifies for Contribution based JSA. That will help until she finds work. Just want to keep the wolves at bay until our financial situation stabilises, and we can make a rational and informed decision on wh...

Hi, We've moved and I have arranged for Sky to install TV/Phone/Broadband at a cost of £42.50 per month. We need a phone, we definitely need broadband, and the Sky package element of that payment is quite small. Where we are living the TV reception off an aerial is unacceptably poor, so need Sky. I ...

Hi, With changes in circumstances, my partner now contributes only 11% of the total household income. We both have debts. I am in an IVA, and my partner is in the early process of arranging a DMP. My debts are nearly £60k and hers around £8k. So mine far outweigh hers. My partner is concerned that h...

hi, I'm in an IVA, and my partner was due to start a DMP. Just recently her eldest child, for whom she was claiming DLA and Carers allowance, decided he no longer wanted to live with us. Before this we could afford to repay the IVA and DMP as setup. Now though, our household income has dropped by ov...

Did I say things were looking up? Funny how things change one day to the next. We are now being driven from our home, and forced to move asap. I don't want to go into too many details on a public forum, but because of an incident against me and my partner, we have been advised by authorities to move...

Just when you think there is no humanity in this world, something occurs to prove you wrong. We received a phone call from the letting agents with who we were trying for a property. The landlady did have a rental guarantee insurance requirement. My having an IVA would fail that, even with a guaranto...

Hi, I have received a windfall. It's not huge, but it needs paying to my IVA. There is a problem though. We're looking to rent somewhere else, and it's looking increasingly likely that unless we have the 6 month rent upfront, we are going to struggle to find anything. The windfall will cover this. O...

I explained it all to the letting agent. They were at pains to highlight the bold writing on the application form that 'any current rent arrears will fail the referencing, and the fee will be non-refundable'. We've dealt with the arrears now anyway. We used what we had in savings (I had a <£500 depo...

Hi, Spoke with IP. Ok for a payment break, providing it's in writing from the letting agent or landlord. But there is a complication. Because housing benefit is paid in arrears, when the referencing agency calls the current landlord, he'll say yes there are arrears, despite having no option on this....
