You say that you've been insured for "a few weeks" - is some of the money they've retained being used to pay for the period of cover you've used? Be very careful going forward - will you now have to declare to every future insurer that you have had a policy cancelled? If so expect to pay heavily loa...

Try the credit card eligibility checker at moneysavingexpert.com - this give you an idea of the likelihood of being accepted for a range of cards (including mainstream and credit builder cards). The eligibility checker performs a "soft" search which won't be visible to future lenders, or impact your...

I won't carry on replying in this thread - of course we all have different opinions, and the forum would be a boring place if we didn't! My final thoughts are: Of course I realise that many people in an IVA have: (to quote abbiesmum2003) "taken the responsible step to face financial crisis and get a...

I would assume that some insurers consider (probably quite rightly) that those in financial difficulties pose a higher fraud risk. Also, when insurance is supplied on a "pay monthly" basis it is usual that the entire premium cost is loaned by a third party finance company,so it is quite right that t...

I must admit that Payplan were really on the ball when it came to paying over my share of PPI interest. I had 2 lots of PPI refunded and in each case Payplan phoned on the day they received the money to ask me how I wanted to be paid my share.

Remember that Equifax and Experian both offer cashback via Quidco etc. if you sign up for a free trial, so you can actually get paid to see your report!

But, as mentioned above, don't forget to cancel your trial subscription before they take the first payment.

I opened and operated accounts with Barclays and Ffrees whilst in my IVA. Unfortunately, Ffrees doesn't currently allow direct debits (but are planning to soon). However Ffrees is particularly useful if you want a "spare" bank account that no-one else knows about - Ffrees don't report to any Credit ...
