Righty-o! I spoke with NPower this evening, attempting to change the tarrif as it would seem that we are on the elevated "Standard Rate". They advised that they would only change the tarrif if we set up a DD and the DD would have to be for £193 per month (some £40 higher than it was a few days ago!)...

Hi dawn.kg- It will depend on whether you have any financial links (associations) with your husband i.e. joint credit cards, mortgage, bank accounts etc. Even if you don't have any joint accounts, you could be linked by a credit search that has been carried out in joint names in the last 6 years. Well, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing with NPower it would seem that the outstanding balance is quite a lot higher than previously thought and is in fact £524!
