Hi Melanie

That is fantastic. Thank you. We could come to Birmingham, no problem. What sort of information would we need to bring?

Thanks again,
Becky

Hi there As my dh is part self-employed we need to see our IP in a face to face meeting. Does anyone know of a good, reputable IP in Leics? Melanie, I note you have an office in Birmingham - we would be happy to travel to Birmingham as it's a quick train ride for us. Would that be doable your end or...

Thanks for that information. We don't spend loads of money on social or beauty sort-of things so hopefully we won't feel the pinch too much. Our sky does include broadband and phone calls - but we have no choice as BT doesn't provide broadband here which means we can't have talk talk or any of those...

Firstly, I'm new so apologies if this is not something I should post or it should be somewhere else. I am spending a great deal of time working out our income/outgoings with a view to hopefully convincing hubby of the need to go for an IVA. I have completed the MSE budget and want to get advice/opin...

Thanks for the monopoly idea [:)] He is refusing to look at the figures on the spreadsheet so maybe this will help! Doubling turnover is ridiculous and can't be done. He currently works 5 days a week, and very often is working til 9 or 10pm at night and Saturdays too. So how he can work more and dou...

He is a sole trader plumber. Although we read about them being on 70k a year, he really isn't and has never got anywhere near that! He earns around £19-23k per year.

I hope he sees sense soon too. Otherwise the consequences are pretty dire.

Thanks for your advice Melanie. My husband's only solution is for us to work more. We would need to double our income just to pay off the minimum balances and not increase our debt, let alone actually pay anything off. He is in cloud cuckoo land and I don't see how I can secure my family's future an...

Again thank you so much. I have tried to discuss our situation with my husband this morning. Unsuccessfully unfortunately. He is very anti getting an IVA or bankruptcy. He thinks we should get ourselves out of the mess we got ourselves into through working our fingers to the bone. Unfortunately he i...

Hi Thanks for your responses. I'm not sure whether an IVA is the best option, or bankruptcy which was also given as a possible option. Can an IP talk through both options or do they specialise in one or the other? And, how do you find out who specialises in people who are self employed? Sorry for al...

Hello I hope this is in the right place! We have completed the CCCS online debt counselling and been advised that an IVA is the best option for us. I just have some questions and hope someone can answer. Can my husband and I get a joint IVA or would it be two individual ones? Most of the debt is in ...

Thank you. I am hoping to do so soon. Unfortunately most of the debt is in my husbands name and I'm struggling to get his head out of the sand before our whole family goes under. [:(] He has a real problem with money, which is ironic as his dad was an IP (retired now) - this is also the problem. He ...

Thank you for that information, I have been wondering the same. We have gotten into the situation where all credit is paid up but rent/council tax/gas and electricity and tax is all behind. [:I]
