Hi - my situation was virtually the same as yours. My IVA concluded in July 2010 and this past spring we started the process to buy our house. The value is £85k and we could buy it for £61k. I got a mortgage broker who had no trouble securing a mortgage from Northern Rock - 4.25% fixed for 5 years. ...

Hi - my IVA finished last July and I have recently been approved for a mortgage, with just a 29% deposit. I used a mortgage broker and the mortgage is with Northern Rock, standard high street mortgage, no problems with the IVA.

Ha ha - I do like to play devil's advocate and throw the odd hand grenade in! I have no qualms with telling you as it was for me; I'm not traceable and my IVA ended some time ago. I'm just offering an alternative perspective and I agree with you on the banks front. A huge proportion of my debt was i...

I got made redundant about 2 years into my IVA, and due to the seniority of my position, I was asked to sign a compromise agreement and was given the redundancy package as an ex gratia payment instead of through normal payroll. That meant it would not show on my P60 and, because my IP didn't ask for...

Hi - without knowing the details, my first suggestion would be to gather as much information as you can which may indicate that you have not committed the act you are being accused of committing, including the names of people who will back you up. Look at the scenario from the investigators' point o...

Hi Breezerboy - as per my last post, my IVA came off my credit report last month and I have been approved for a mortgage with a 29% deposit from Northern Rock. I have used a mortgage broker who was completely honest about my IVA, and I had been approved by Nationwide - it was just my husband who was...

The broker said that Nationwide had wanted to see my completion certificate and that Northern Rock were aware of my past circumstances, but I don't know if the question was directly asked on the application form. All I can say is that both lenders knew I'd been in an IVA and didn't see it as an issu...

Hi BOL - the lender is Northern Rock, but I would also have had a yes from Nationwide had it not been for my husband.

I haven't posted very often but after reading some recent posts about the inability to get a mortgage after an IVA, I wanted to let you know that it is possible. My IVA ended in 2010 and it fell off my credit file last month. I have lived in my council house for 20 years and wanted to exercise my ri...

Isn't Perfect Day a song about heroin? Our first dance was to 'At Last' by Etta James. We're in our late 30's and had waited a long time before we found the right person - the words were perfect for us. I walked down the aisle to Annie's Song by John Denver and the two slow songs at the end of the e...

Hi - I understand your frustration. When i was in an IVA I applied for a job within a well-known financial institution and they pushed and pushed for me, offering exceptional terms etc, then they asked me about my credit history... i heard no more from them. It does really suck but from an employmen...

They were listed on the report - SLC - Student Loans Company. They never chased and have never been in touch since so there wasn't an issue as far as i was aware and as i said, no trace of them now on my credit report. My IVA completed lasy July so this was some time ago but i do recall the IP sayin...

My student loan was included in my IVA, which has now completed and they have dropped off my credit record. Was this an error? Bit late now if it was!
