Was there not a statement last year from the IR that lots of people were going to get letters like this, something to do with there computer system. I dont think it is your employer but the IR itself oh yeah, I seem to remember hearing something but didn't take much notice since it was a 'won't hap...

Since I don't fill in a tax form I am inclined to think my employer is at fault here.

It just seems so unjust that I am left with a huge tax bill through no fault of my own.

This is income tax, I don't get tax credits.

I am a single person, living on her own.

I was so glad to see the back of 2010, but it looks as if 2011 is showing signs of being just as bad.

Hi all, I've received a letter from Inland Revenue this morning advising that I underpaid tax by £700 for tax year 2009-2010. Do they not go by the information supplied by my employer? How was I to know/check that this information was correct or incorrect? Does anyone have any ideas of what I should...

Hi, Very good advice above. When I started to look into resolving my financial crisis I too was worried I might lose my job because I work for a bank. Furthermore, one of my creditors is the very same bank. Spoke to my line Manager who was great, my role does not pose a risk, ie I do not give financ...

The surprising thing is that because i have a welsh name no-one can pronounce my alias/nick name is also on there - wasn't expecting that. Anyway, my first payment has gone out and I feel pleased I have finally addressed my situation...

This is such a good idea I will be doing this for next year.

I managed to save £85 in Tesco clubcard vouchers and saving stamps this year so although my bill came to £95 it was nice to have a trolley full of nice food costing me only £10 [:D]

Couldn't agree more. To be able to sleep at night knowing there are no nasty bills to come is such a great feeling.

Hope you all have a very Merry 'Hic'mas !!

It just goes to show you can't tell what is allowed. My IVA was approved yesterday but with the provision I cancelled my mortgage protection and critical illness insurance. The thing I can't understand is that Halifax, my mortgage provider, was one of my creditors which insisted on this !! I'm guess...

I'm not yet in an IVA, hope to be by Tuesday !!

I've bought gifts with my own money, rebate from British Gas helped. It's such a good feeling knowing everything is already paid for.
