What were your debts again Jane ? Was it a Together Mortgage with NR (secured and unsecured bits) plus a secured loan with Picture ? Then other unsecured creditors. Was there a car or cars involved on HP as well ? As you are no longer living in the house I imagine your case is just in the litigation...

As Melanie says, you are able to de-link yourself from your son so your credit rating does not affect his. The only exception to this is if you have a joint account with your son for any credit - if so you cannot separate yourself as you are formally "linked" and no notice would sever this. They onl...

What pence in the £ did they propose for the IVA ? Was it still 30p - I am sure HSBC will want their 40p minimum - there is no way they favour Payplan over other IPs just because they support their DMPs. If they have not proposed this in the IVA I am sure HSBC will come back with it as a modificatio...

Did your IVA contain an equity clause in year 4/5 ?
I must say I did not think IPs could just "give" a settlement figure - I mean it is down to the creditors to accept at a variation meeting and nothing is certain. Perhaps this is why the IP is suddenly unobtainable !

I always laugh at IVA adverts that say that "your credit rating may be affected" if you enter into an IVA. It's like saying you may get wet if you go swimming.

Whilst "IN" an IVA it will be a condition of it that you have no credit whatsoever - so even if you could find a lender who would lend to you it would not be allowed. As for bank accounts, some banks will allow you to have a basic account. When an IVA is COMPLETED you can at least apply for credit a...

I saw a comment in the paper this last week stating that IVAs were being "hijacked" by consumers who had lived beyond their means, funding lifestyles they could not afford. You could tell he had no sympathy whatsoever and was even more scathing of IPs firms who were "ambulance chasing". He stated th...

If you sign up for the fixed rate of 6.39% (which is not bad at all for an IVA holder seeing as base rates are 5.25%) then it will probbaly have a "lock in" for another period after the initial two years.

What I mean is your secured lending at the moment consists of your mortgage (£73,000) and the secured loan (£35,000 - although this will be reducing each month if the loan is capital + interest). I am guessing that your secured loan is on a 10-15 year term, hence the high repayment amounts of £435 a...

Just so we can give a fuller answer what was the total amount of unsecured debt that went into the IVA ? (we won't judge on here we are not like that). Your situation is far from hopeless but - depending on the amount - I will be honest and tell you that you may have to "let go" of the idea of maint...
