Thanks guys, the irony is thus, I can afford the mortgage on my own, even on the iVA. I think bank criteria however will not permit in my sole name. I seriously need to get my divorce finalised though because at the moment, he has agreed that he will come out of the mortgage without taking an equity...

Hi there, I am not 100% sure on what the rules are regarding membership and bankruptcy except that if I go bankrupt this may prevent me from practising accountancy and I must let ACCA know. I think it may well depend on how long ago you were bankrupt, but some of the porfessionals on here may be bet...

Good news guys... Quote from the ACCA, "Thank you for submitting your application for membership. I can confirm that entering into an IVA does not prevent you from becoming an ACCA member, however, if you should go into bankruptcy then you must inform us within 30 days of this occurring" So I guess ...

Hi Debt attack
I did advanced tax in the last sitting and it's well worth doing that one on it's own. Good luck with the exam, although I found that paper pretty easy , so hopefully you will too !
I'll let you know what the outcome is on the professional membership

Thanks guys, it's good knowing you've got somewhere to turn to at times like these. I have written a letter, asking that I still be permitted to join the professional org, giving detail of how I got into financial trouble and stressing the ethical dilemma I faced, which obviously meant protecting my...

Thanks MissyP for your advice. I think I will just have to notify them and then see what the outcome is. My financial circumstances changed quite dramatically after my husband and I split up. I had foolishly taken out loans to assist his finances and had been left with them to pay once he left in ad...

Have been in touch with the ACCA helpdesk, told them all about my situation. They have told me to write a letter with all the details regarding my IVA along with my application for full membership. The lady I spoke to said that disciplinary action occurs when people fail to notify ACCA as it can be ...

Hi all Thanks for the advice. I work in industry as a cost accountant for a large plc. I am therefore not giving advice to clients on matters relating to their money, just analysis of promotions and reporting. I am going to call ACCA today and find out as one thing I have learned through this proces...

oh dear.. I have spent the last 2 and half years working towards ACCA accountancy qualification. 14 exams later, I have passed with an average pass mark of 72%. Unfortunately on my invitation to join the association bye law 8 refers to the following: "A member shall be liable to disciplinary action ...

The ex wants me to agree to claiming no maintenance fo 4 years in order to cancel out his share of the equity in our home (which is annoying since he never made a mortgage contribution in the 10 years we were together which is probably why i'm on an iva and he is not!) The kids want to do dance clas...

Hi all
Can you please advise, if I manage to secure a nominal maintenance payment from my ex for my children and this is paid into bank accounts for them (eg for activities, school trips) will this be classified as additional income to me and my I&E adjusted?
