Jan,
Thank you and sorry for my constant stupid Q's (all of you), but as you can imagine, this is a worrying time and this forum, whilst at the beginning of this journey for me, I am sure is going to be invaluable.
Thanks again.

BOL, Thanks for taking the time to explain. One final Q then. If I owe the amount of debt right to the end and I have managed to pay off say 40% of my original total debt, then come the time of completing the IVA, I assume the only thing I might liable for is the remaining 60% of what is owed to deb...

Jan, Thanks and sorry if it was a dumb question. So come the end of my IVA (not had the details through yet of mine hence the questions), if I were told a dividend of 50p in the £ would be what they could expect over 5 yrs, come the end of 5 yrs and there was a shortfall still, then they would eithe...

Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but when you talk about "offer as close to the original dividend as possible", what does that actually mean ? Is it if when the IVA started, the amount that the creditors are prepared to take on completion (i.e 60% of the original debt (that's the dividend - and ...

Just to clarify some standard wording around IVA's and completion of them - "Once you have met all the terms of your IVA including making all necessary monthly payments (normally over 5 years) and releasing any equity from your property as required, you will then have settled your debt in full. Any ...

what happens if they raise your expenses during an iva?
presumably the debtors get less money which i am sure they won't be happy about, so how do they get their money back ......or don't they?

Casper, If you don't mind me asking, what were the monthly payments? If my maths is right, you were paying back £36k so divide that by 72 months would have meant £500 p/m. At 53 months you had paid £21,500 back so that would equal £405 p/m is that correct ? And originally with house equity they were...

Antm, Great way of looking at things and an inspiration to me at least knowing that hols (albeit not as frequent or exotic) sound possible with a bit of imagination in saving here and there (have thought of the ebay/car boot sale a few times). Never been one for the beers with friends (well only at ...

Hi, does that mean say for an original debt of £30k which the debtors were looking to recoup £15k over the 5 yrs, plus IP fees of again say £6k?, that would be a £250pm sum. If you had paid for 2 yrs (£6k) then would that mean a lump sum offer of £15k - £6k = £9k would be acceptable (or would you ha...
