Hi, I took such a loan before my IVA, not that long ago. I was quite desperate...but anyway, it was short term only like two weeks. I borrowed £150 and had to repay £194. I agree that loans like that should be forbidden.

Hi, welcome :-) I can't answer your question but try 'Live Help' on this page, it's a live chat with an expert. It's very good, whenever I had questions I went on there and within a few minutes I had all the answers ;-) good luck!

I don't think they will be closing accounts. I was with NatWest, I had three accounts (two with overdrafts ;-)) and now when my IVA was approved they removed the overdrawn accounts but left the other one so in theory I could be using it...but i won't! Of course the person who closed my overdrawn acc...

So you opened a Co-op account? That's good, I was thinking about it too. All the best with your IVA! Mine was approved this week ;-)

Hi Bush67, I know how you feel...i didn't want to answer any questions so i opened an account on-line with Nationwide, cash card +. They give you a visa debit card so it's not bad. I was in a similar situation to yours, kept up payments but had a lot of debt. So you should open it without any problem.

Thanks! Also i'm trying to pass my practical driving test (failed again today!) because i'm the main carer for my mother and driving licence would be handy, would that (test fees) be regarded as acceptable expenses?

Hi, I sent off my IVA proposal signed today and will see when the creditors meeting is going to be set up. Today they told me at work that we are getting 0.4 payrise backdated to August. So even though the payrise is minimal I'll get a few hundred pounds this month. Will it have to go towards my IVA...

If you don't activate your card it doesn't matter so just cut it and throw away. I also don't want credit cards again!

I'm new here but I suggest you talk to at least one more company. The first I talked to sounded nice and helpful but they wanted an upfront payment of £500. This made me suspicious and I checked links on the internet related to them. There were lots of negative comments...and they promised unrealist...

Just to say 'Hello'. I'm new here but I've read a lot of your posts and I've learned a lot too! Thank you! My IVA proposal is being prepared and I hope it will go through (apparently I'm a very good case ;-)). If it doesn't, I'll go for bankruptcy and I'm preparing myself mentally for that. I'm alre...
