Just an update and a 'thank you' for all the advice. We went to court on the 15th - They agreed a settlement of £13,000. Which has duly been paid! How I raised this I can still never begin to understand. Savings, cutbacks and loans from family. All in all a very miserable experience. One that will t...

I can't seem to see your last reply Andy.

It's appeared.

That is the route I shall take, do I approach the inhouse solicitor at my old company who seems to be petitioning, or would they be using a seperate solicitor?

If I was to be honest, I would have to admit that I probably would be too. Does this mean that I should look to offewr the company the full amount of £10000? Is an IVA an option - with these cost of £10000 I would probably qualify. My main concerns are losing the house. More so for my wife and famil...

It,s not Natwest petitioning for BR, it's my old company. It seems they settled the account with NW and it's now in their hands. We were in last contact when we made a payment of £300 last November. We then made an agreement to pay the full amount over 2 months (they originally asked for £1000 pw). ...

Andy ,many thanks for your reply. The corp card was not Amex, but NatWest. Granted I have buried my head in the sand somewhat. But lately it's been more out of ignorance than intent. I was last in contact with my company solicitor in Jan when I asked for a few days extension to the Stat Dem. Thinkin...

How does one go about sorting something like this out, other than buying a house I have no experience of the legal world.

Many thanks Lily. To be honest, we are barely over my mothers death (valentines day), and are now facing the loss of my partners mother. We thought we had come through the 'darkside' re the bankruptcy. We had raised the sum quoted on the Stat Dem and were looking to settle the amount. To say we are ...

Can things get any worse? We finally have been served out bankruptcy docs. The hearing is on the 15th May as originally suggested. We have scrimped and saved money to pay the debt to avoid bankrupcy but hopes have been smashed on receiving details of the costs for the bankruptcy petition. Original d...

It was a massive boo boo on my part, and even slightly embarrassing to tell (even within the anonymity of an email forum). I changed jobs in May last year; I had £3000 outstanding on my company credit card. I kept failing to make the payments on it. They then became heavy and the ball started rollin...

But the other debts have never been an issue and are paid, essentially, on time. This is the only creditor petitioning me. Surely if this is paid and the original apyments with the others are being adhered to nothing has changed. I am only guessing of course. Also does anyone know why I would be quo...

Melanie, indeed it is a creditors petition. The only problem now is that we fear other lenders, that we have no issues with at present, may get the fear and start petitioning also. Is this the norm? Or am I over fretting. The monies we have can cover the origianl petiton, but not if others start fal...
