Well I thought I'd come back and add a quick update. It's been a fairly lengthy process, and I can now understand why - the information required has been voluminous! The service charge caused a particular hiccup, but is now resolved - although not in the way I'd have liked. I was hoping to be able t...

Quick update folks; wheels are turning but I now understand why it takes as long as it does...! The main reason I'm posting is to say that Mum's had a great result with the PPI claim on her loan; Santander have agree to refund the £4,600 she's paid over the years, along with £1,200 interest! They'll...

Thanks Melanie. I'm in the process of getting together the information requested but will need a little time to organise things like a valuation. I've been sifting through so much paperwork it's making my head spin!
On the plus side, I feel like I'm actually DOING something which is good.

Just found this online: "If there is a mortgage registered against the flat, it will do no harm to write to the first mortgage lender, asking them to pay the arrears. They may be prepared to do so, as, if you should seek to enforce arrears of service charges by going down the forfeiture route, it wi...

Evening folks, just a quick update - I've not forgotten you all! Melanie's people have been in touch and the wheels are starting to turn. However, I've been thrown a curve ball by the residents' company to whom I'm in arrears for my service charge. Part of the proposal was to commence payment of the...

I've just opened an account with Nationwide as a large amount of myy debt is with the HBOS group (Intelligent Finance card, Halifax card, Halifax loan) and my current account is with Intelligent Finance. I chose Nationwide as my best mate has been with them for years and they're also not linked with...

Well things are now rolling. I'd just like to say a big thanks to everyone who's posted up their comments so far. Tina has been brilliant and I'm looking forward to speaking with Melanie as things progress. My new debit card came through today which is good - I had worries about it being only a cash...

gbenno-we had that happen when on a debt mamanagement plan-northern rock were getting 136 instead of 150 for the unsecured and taking the 14 pound difference off the mortgage payment-thus putting us in arrears. I had to ring them every month for 7 months to request the money be transferred back to ...

Morning folks, just a very quick update before I head out the door to work.. Spoke to the CCCSVA lady last night and she was helpful but crucially gave me one piece of very bad advice (not intentionally). I mentioned that I had stopped payments on debts pending an explanatory letter being sent to th...

Sorry, to clarify; I meant that at present nothing has commenced with regard to an IVA yet but I've already cancelled my DDs. Subsequently any amounts not paid between now and the IVA process starting will be added to the total debt. As it happens, I fully expect to be emailing Tina tonight to say "...

Don't really want to do that though as we spent the money so we should pay as much back as possible in our view. I'm sure Tina will confirm that my motive was the same. I'm not trying to run away from the debt, or to try and avoid paying it. I genuinely want to pay as much back as I can realistical...

I must admit that I'll be apprehensive right up to the point where the IVA is accepted or declined. I know it's not a certainty, nor a 'quick fix'. If the IVA is unsuccessful, bankruptcy would be my only other option at that point and it's a path I'd like to avoid entirely if possible.
