The reason I have an issue with putting it down as income is purely because of the experience of nittykitty and others who may not be aware that it can be offset. While ever it is being put down as income, there will be IP's who will want to take some of it for the IVA. If there was a standard polic...

Hi Kazza, yes that's how it should be done. But it's clear from what nittykitty & bull dog have said that this isn't always happening. There must be some IP's out there who take DLA into account but do not offset. Unless you are a member or lurker of this forum, you wouldn't necessarily know this sh...

I'm finding this issue a bit difficult to get my head around. I've been mulling it over for a while. DLA awarded to a child is theirs, not ours. We hold the appointeeship for them. To use some of the DLA to pay for our debts could be seen as some form of benefit fraud? The DWP says that you must not...

Thanks RRones and Michael. My sons main difficulty is language (classed as a 'bodily function' by the DLA). He has poor working memory (i.e give him 3 numbers to remember and by the time you have finished the 3rd he has forgotten the other 2). He has dyslexia and dyspraxia and a learning difficulty....

Hi - I wonder if you could just clear something up for me? We have been awarded DLA for my son, and have also received the disability premium from tax credits, plus another severe disability premium from them. This amounts to quite a lot of money each month. I understand that we will need to do an n...

I'm glad some of you managed the whole 5/6 years without building up a contingency. I was beginning to worry that it was not possible and we would hit a huge problem and the IVA will fail. None of our family or friends know that we are in an IVA and pride will definitely stop me from asking for help...

Me and my OH have just started an IVA and we too have found it difficult to build up a contingency fund. There always seems to be something - even if it isn't an emergency, kids shoes dropping to bits or their coat doesn't fit any more etc. These costs all included in our I&E but where does the mone...

I work in the public sector and it looks like the strike will be going ahead in November (this is not a post about the rights and wrongs of striking). My union fees were allowed as part of our I&E. My OH works in the private sector and in November he will get his bonus. We have the usual clause abou...

Thanks everyone. I have been with the CCCSVA but I think that their workload is so heavy at the moment that every step is getting delayed by a couple of weeks. They have been nothing but apologetic and are extremely nice when I phone, but we have made the decision to change company's. I understand n...

Just wanted to say hi and thanks to everyone who posts on here for their info.[:)] I just wanted to know in all of your experience, how long did it take you all to get from initial phone call to the date of the creditors meeting? Everything with my IVA seems to be taking an age!! Sorry if I've poste...
