Just another thought. The bank account is joint but creditor related remotely to bank is only a creditor of mine. If they took money from joint funds, how would they know how much of it was mine (if any?) Surely they can't take money not knowing whose it is??!!

Thanks for both replies. So Think Banking will not worry about me having debt to other banks within their group? If so, how long did it take to set up? Melanie, have you heard of this happening with any of your other clients? We will change our bank accounts but just concerned that as we're being pa...

Hi All Pleased to say things are moving on now and my wonderful IP (Melanie) is sorting us out. We changed accounts after stopping our payments to creditors but now find out our new bank is financially linked to the same group, HBOS as one of our creditors! Default notices now arriving, although gen...

Not sure where it's gone but did post a thread ** regarding keeping in contact with creditors earlier today?

Seems to have vanished (wish my debts would!)

Just wanted to share our experiences mid IVA proposal... We initially telephoned all our creditors and advised them of our financial problems and intended course of action. Without exception, all were very polite and I got the impression this was (sadly) common practice nowadays! I usually agree a t...

Just wanted to add that since April (when we stopped paying our creditors) we have maintained regular contact with them all. I usually end the conversations by agreeing a timescale (usually 2 weeks) and then going back to them just before then. It has also helped that a lot of them recognise our IP ...

Hi Melanie You got me worried then! Couldn't wait to rush home and make sure it is HP. Yes, it certainly is. I even called BH to make sure I wasn't going mad and they confirmed, yes HP for caravan account, which means I can return to them from Sept 2008 with no penalties. Also increase IVA payments ...

Hi Melanie Thanks so much for replying early - as you can see I was up pretty early myself (can't sleep these days!) Yes, BH only represent about 10% in total of my loans and obviously even lesser % with joint proposal with hubby. I'm pleased you seem to have good contacts with them and this is reas...

Hi All I joined in with Lisa's thread earlier on and I'm anxious about these people (BH). Up until now, they've been very friendly and seem to want to help but then I'm only 1 payment behind now. Melanie, I've spoken to Tina and we're organising all the paperwork for Sarah now (just waiting on loan ...

Hi again Lisa I've just re-read your original post and I feel really bad now for trying to 'hi jack' your post. I'm afraid my mind clouded over with mention of BH and I didn't really read your problems. [:I] I too am sick with worry but please, please don't let it make you ill. Having read loads and...

Hi, just reading this and thinking out loud really! If a house is repossessed and then anything not paid back turns into an unsecured debt, what would happen in bankruptcy? Can the shortfall to mortgage provider be 'wiped away' after being discharged? Sorry to sound dim! This doesn't actually apply ...

Hello all I've had a few conversations now and we're feeling happier about the way forward. We have a telephone chat with Melanie's office tomorrow so I'm really nervous about that but also excited about getting things moving! We have an endowment policy and general consensus has been we can surrend...

Thanks Melanie Unfortunately, like cars, static caravans depreciate in value immediately which no-one tells you. The HP agreement would still show £15K(ish) outstanding - you are not allowed to sell caravans privately and therefore have to sell back to the site and they'd give you approx. £6K (and s...
