Just rang to enquire about one of these new accounts and it costs 25.00 to set up and then 12.50 a month to manage your account!! You also cannot have a joint account, not the greatest thing in the world for people who have little cash!

I have read this thread with interest as I am currently in the process of trying for a 2nd IVA after my 1st one failed. Both companies I have looked into at present are charging 2 months of upfront fee's - Both stating different reason's. 1 that it looks good to creditors if a contribution has been ...

Hi Ian , all I have actually done is ring 2 firms and spoken to two senior advisors, They have both asked me a lot of Q's which took about an hour. One came back with 265.00 a month and one came back with 235.00. Therefore one wanted 530.00 and the other 470.00, Thats as far as I have got at the mom...

I am not sure you can judge everyone with a disabilty the same Neil. Whilst employers have to follow the Disabilty Discrimination Act nowadays in reality it is not that easy and some appointments are nothing more than a token gesture. Rather than focusing on someones employment status the reason the...

Ok Ian , thanks for that , it would just appear I have to choose the right firm now!!
The 2 I have looked at already got different disposable incomes so it is confusing already!!
Thanks again.

So the suggestion earlier on in this thread that the 1-2 months it takes to formulate and get a decision on an IVA being used to get an emergency fund in place for the 5 years ahead doesn't actually happen in practice??
Regards
Chris

The 1st IVA was set up hastily and as I was desperate to stop being harrassed I just chose the 1st one. Also my, then IVA firm said they specifically, dealt with NHS cases. I quickly realised I couldn't afford it and tried to vary it but got refused. I had split with my partner and also had 8 months...

Have spoke to 2 now, Bainst and earnst and Freeman Jones and both want upfront payments, Freeman Jones wanted the payment immediately before the IVA has even been looked at!! I am unsure if this is normal practice or if I have just been unlucky with the people I have contacted. Is this normal practi...

Yes Neil, it was just set up to hastily and I was so desperate to get out of debt that i took the first offer. I couldn't afford the payments so just stopped paying and it then took 12 months for it to be failed before I could do anything else. Getting chased and harrassed now though none of my cred...

I have been in a failed IVA and today decided to go for a second IVA. I rang Bainst and Earnst??? Who I think use Blair Enderby, I spoke to someone at length who having took my income decided I could afford to pay around 235.00 per month on debts of approx 28k. I have to make 62 payments , 2 upfront...

So if a debt of 22k is sold for 2200, I presumme then that the debt is still worth 22k, and that the 'Debt Purchasers' can pursue for 22k.
This may be legal but doesn't seem moral!
I also would presume that the 'debt Purchasers would need all the originalcredit agreements etc etc?

I think the forum is fantastic. In your darkest , most stressful hour you can find support and non-judgemental opinions. I can't speak highly enough of it and would have no hesitation in recommending it to people and supporting it's nomination for an award. The think that impresses me the most is th...
