It's companies like this that give the industry a bad name. They seem to make the rules up as and when it suits their best interests. However, it does raise some questions. If Aperture are trying to get as much money in as they can before the court ruling later in the year, does this mean they can k...

Topic: My IVA completed in 2011. Can you please confirm the legalities of the 'Green v Wright' case ?

My concern over the PPI fiasco is that it demonstrates the possibility that an IVA may never end. When I was sold my IVA in 2006 I was told, quite categorically, that after 5/6 years my IVA would be over and I could get on with my life with the IVA long behind me. I'm sure most of us would like to p...

As far as I can see the ruling of the Green v Wright appeal says that there are no obligations on the debtor after the issue of the completion certificate unless the cc specifically says so. Therefore, regardless of what agreements etc. that were signed before or during an IVA, if the cc does not me...

Don't expect it to be a 5/6 year 'sentence', the impact goes on far longer. Choose a smaller, more personal company who you can actually speak to. Expect it to be tough, really tough at times but the positive is that you learn to manage your money more efficiently possibly for the first time ever. S...

I believe that in light of Green v Wright one of the biggest credit card companies are now asking that IVA providers who wish to claim post cc ppi do so in writing. Previously they simply made a brief telephone call. I think they may be covering their backs in case the appeal is unsuccessful. Howeve...

As with most IVA matters, there seems to be much confusion over this and many opinions. My reading of Green v Wright is that once a completion certificate is received and the IVA company close the case then the trust is finished. Unless the completion paperwork or certificate specifically add a clau...

I was in a joint or interlocking iva with my late husband and I signed a ppi release form with my IP. However, my late husband did not and I've been told that my signing covered him as well. I find this confusing as I thought that we had individual iva's that were dependent upon each other yet remai...

Thanks for the responses. I know that my iva wasn't dealt with as part of the mass variation done by GT but think I may have signed something to close it quickly. However, I know my late husband didn't and I have email evidence of my expressly refusing them permission to look for ppi in his name as ...

It's been a long time since I posted on this forum as I received my completion certificate in May 2013. The certificate said quite concisely that the supervisors duties are completed and all arrangements have been satisfied. During the IVA my husband died (it was a joint IVA). Now, the dreaded PPI h...

After 6 long years and 12 months after my last payment I've finally received my cc from GT. I actually got it on Saturday but have been in a bit of a daze since!! Now, for those of you who have been waiting longer than this, please don't get too upset. My circumstances were a little different than u...

My IVA was originally with BE and my experiences with GT have been mixed. I could not fault them at all and would actually sing their praises until.....closures. In all fairness there are people who are involved on the periphery of closures who are really trying hard to supply excellent customer ser...

Some positive news about Grant Thornton for a change. After getting the much written about diabolical service from the closures team I took up Melanie's very kind offer to act as a 'go between' to encourage them to answer me. I was contacted by a variations manager (Kelly) immediately and well.........

Many of our original creditors have sold our debts on for meagre amounts of money. It is the new creditors who will get the PPI and I don't feel any obligation towards them whatsoever. Unless our original creditors off set PPI against our debts, the new creditors are quids in.

I was also not asked about PPI until almost 12 months after my last payment. PPI was never mentioned in any communications I had with GT until I chased up my cc and received the same response. Is this legally correct, well possibly. Is it morally right, absolutely not. To deliberately extend the wai...
