Welcome Julie, is your property mortgaged? If so, claim on your buildings insurance. If rented, tell your landlord and get them to claim on their insurance. In any case insurance should take care of it. The downside is, unless you have buildings no claims, your policy next year will go up, but at le...

I think, SometimesTina, the feelings people have after IVA, of relief, free of stress and looking at people square on, are incredible. For those embarking on IVA - carry on, you WILL get there. The effort is massive but so are the rewards.

NoCash2012, I dont think you have misunderstood. Some IPs go as low as £250, some allow you to keep all the 8% interest only on the PPI etc, they all have fluctuating criteria. What amazes me though is that, above the sum of £500, they want back what they originally SHOULD NOT have sold you in the f...

Susan, going into IVA or even worse, bankruptcy for £6000 seems to be quite worrying. Could you vaguely explain if you are working, have a mortgage, off sick etc. IVA for £6000 .....wow. I am sure your creditors would help if they knew of the sickness impact of this on you. But if you are serious ab...

Lee13, please see below VN terms and conditions again:- "14. After-acquired assets 14(1) Subject to the following sub-paragraph, the Supervisor may claim as an asset of the arrangement any after-acquired assets. Any such asset will be subject to and be an asset of the arrangement." Lee, note that it...

Seems to me that 'Excluded Assets' could mean almost anything that has a pulse. Because of the ambiguity of the term and the fact that anything can be included in it, at any time does not detract from the original arrangement unless clearly specified and agreed by the client. Is this a safety net fo...

Hello Lee13, have you still got a copy of the ORIGINAL iva 'contract' that you signed and sent to your Supervisor. If so check carefully for any details of PPI. I guess if no details are there then you have totally complied with Varden Nuttells own terms and conditions, see below:- "6(1) When the ar...

In any event, could you not, immediately cancel the big payments i.e. c/c, loan etc, instead pay on your debit card that goes with your wages account a few days later. That may give you a little control, in the very short term, but allow you the time and breathing space to create a fresh account els...

Mrsfaz, I have had a cashminder a/c with coop since my IVA - there is no credit check only reg of electors. You should get one. The cashminder a/c pays direct debits, is a debit card so going the shop is easy etc - the only thing it doesn't do is pay interest but who cares your IVA would have that a...

Hello austint36, I have been discharged from my IVA having completed it earlier this year. I was with Payplan. I thought they were absolutely brilliant. Having said that my IVA was in 2009 and in the early years of IP involvement. But of course it is very big business now. Now it seems IPs, whoever ...

Peter, if your bank has a local branch, maybe if you hand in a letter of cancellation of payment, to the customer service desk, and insist they read and understand it there and then. Insist also that they note this on your account details. After all, until payday it is still YOUR money and you can d...

I have finished an IVA but I don't want the experience of it to go to waste, especially to those facing what seems a daunting six years. But please have strength. When it is over, the IP has your...
