Hi, Over 2 years since end of IVA. We still budget strictly and monitor income/expenditure to the nth degree – some old IVA habits never die! Credit ratings normalised – I have a standard cc for emergencies and my wife has a car loan (no need or intention of acquiring any other credit). We also swit...

Hi Melanie,

Yes, they're Chester based and only cover the local area - which is big enough! (cheshire/Merseyside/N. Wales)

We went through a comapny called "cheshire trade centre" - they're more of a financial broker that sell cars. Guy we dealt with was really good and worked hard to get us a reasonable deal.

Post-IVA is a different country - like being allowed to play with the grown-ups again. Although some IVA habits still hold strong - we sourced a lot of our holiday clothes from charity shops and used eBay to raise cash to buy euros [:)] To anybody at the start, middle or end of an IVA - your life wi...

Thanks Ginger - we will be going down the broker route.

And of course nothing is ever done until numbers are entered and crunched in the all-mighty budget & expenditure spread sheet [:)]

Our old run-around Rover 400 died last Friday – failed MOT, £500+ to repair but the car is only worth £175!!. To add insult to injury we’d already paid out £125 the previous week on brakes & tyres which were needed pre-MOT. We fly out to Tenerife next Tuesday so were faced with a nightmare situation...

Hi Foggy,

In the words of The Who (finally saw them live last weekend [:D])

I can go anyway, way I choose
I can live anyhow, win or lose
I can go anywhere, for something new
Anyway, anyhow, anywhere I choose

I'd stay free as a bird mate [:o)]

I had a simple spread sheet that listed the monthly payments with a running total of “paid to date” and “left to pay”. Little milestones like half-way point and IVA yearly anniversary were highlighted as well. Once you get through the learning curve of the first year, it’s surprising (and scary!) ho...

Selling the house to clear existing debt then rent was my plan 7 years ago. My NatWest advisor said no! no! property is everything, re-mortgage the house and pay off the debts that way. The higher repayments crippled us and we ended up in an IVA within 12 months anyway! Good luck with whatever you d...

I have steadily read through all the threads across this board and others.

Forgive me if people feel I'm overstepping the mark, but I find it rather odd that a highly paid accountant is incapable of formulatiing an action plan to deal with
£35k of unsecured debt?

God help his clients.

My name came off today after being there for nearly 6.5 years [:)]I had to sort it out myself as DFD hadn't bothered to send in my completion paperwork from last December. Scanned & e-mailed my paperwork direct to an insolvency register contact who actioned it within a couple of minutes (very polite...

Thanks everyone [:)] I suppose I've got a couple of further landmarks to reach i.e. name dropping off the insolvency register and repairing my credit score; but at least I've crossed the finish line and got a medal. Strange feeling knowing that it's completely over: feels like I've been booted out o...

Hi,

Well I'm truly done & dusted now - completion report arrived this morning [:D] It took 14 months to arrive
after my last ever payment, so please hang on in there if you are still waiting for your final piece of paper!
