Thank you C. The standard fees were capped at £8500 (£3k for the proposal, £5.5 for running it) but allowed for charges of up to a maximum of 30% of the total collected over the life of the arrangement if additional work was required - thereby allowing the IP company to potentially claim a much high...

Thanks for responses. I've now checked and the IVA company say they have no authority to reduce the monthly payment without calling a creditors meeting, which could take months to organise. I have also been reminded to carefully consider the implications of attemping to reduce my monthly contributio...

Hi Has anyone succeeded in overturning the 24 month no variation clause? I'm 20 months in. I wondered if it would cost two variation meeting charges, one to challenge the clause and one to agree the reduced monthly payment? I'm really struggling with my IVA monthly payment of £1000. The last two mon...

Hi As Pbeck says you're protected by an IVA now. Just tell people your in an IVA and pass any stray letters on to your IP, they are now paid to deal with these for you. In a few months when the 'phone calls, letters and even junk mail has stopped you even begin to feel a bit left out when you have d...

Interesting stats, hadn't realised just how many debtors petition for their own bankruptcy. As Melanie suggests must be creditors trying to push DPM's or debts just being unmanagable in an IVA with the variations being put forward by TIX and the likes. And remember this is all prior to the credit cr...

CCCS might have a very good website and they do get someone to call and discuss things through. But they sure aren't free and they never mentioned a fee during the telphone call. It was only when I read the Chairman's report I realised they got £800 for refering me on to an IP. I already knew an IVA...

Remember even if your F & F is accepted by your creditors and the IVA marked as completed and most of your creditors can be persuaded to mark the defaults with settled or partially settled it all still going to sit on your credit file for six years, at least, from the start of the IVA and the postin...

sorry but at the end of the day , it's creditor;s revenge and there is nothing you can do. But we'd be niaive to beleive after an IVA that all was forgiven. I made the choice because I owed more money than I could ever pay back. So I accept the long term repercussions, I do get saddened by people wh...

I used to think that once the IVA was gone my credit file would be sparking clean but this is the reply I got from Expedian We note that some or all the debts shown on your report were included in your IVA. The debts have to be shown separately to reflect how a credit agreement was conducted before ...

Hi , I've posted before on topic . creditors can default your account whenever they want and this will remain on your file for 6 years from the date of defualt. Really the sooner they default the better as you don't want them to leave it to the last month or so of the IVA before defaulting the accou...

Very well said. go_4_broke I am not ashamed of my IVA proposal and made it clear to my IP that I wanted a minimum extra period on the IVA and no way was my property to be included. IVAs are business proposals and you need to take any feelings of shame out of the negotiations and play your hand well....

My favourite collection story. Years ago I worked at Amex and a team leader was leaving. The manager started off the collection with a tenner. It went round the entire office of about 50 people and came back with almost 50 messages on the card but only £8.72 in the envelope. I think a few people mus...
