I agree totally with that Skippy, in hindsight I would have been stronger. Debt makes you do silly things it seems.
Stand up to them Andy and if it's not accepted then gain help and advice from here, I would never have dared to go bankrupt if it wasn't for the help and dispelling of myths on here.

I went BR on Monday (10th) and I spoke to the OR on the same day and he asked which of my accounts (I had 3) was a basic one and if it was ok with my bank to keep it open then it wouldn't be frozen. I rang the Lloyds and they were lovely and said it was ok by them as it was a no frills bank account....

Just seen this. Good luck with it all pme, time will drag until the 28th! Also if you are in receipt of working tax credits and/or child tax credits then you can 'save' up to £150 off the court fees. We are in receipt of both, we took our award notice in with us and we both got £150 off.

I found when we started to thrash out our expenditure with our IP if we had evidence that a regular bill was high, we had to cut back on other parts of expenditure. So less on housekeeping, shopping etc just to make it 'fit' We were so desperate at that point I think we would have stopped eating jus...

I have to agree with Skippy here. I have done both, my IVA was totally unrealistic on reflection and so inevitably it failed and am now bankrupt. It is, of course, a personal choice I have tried to pay my creditors back but it didn't work out.

Hello Fudge, that sounded a bit of a nightmare and seems in complete contrast to what I experienced on Monday. At least the BR part is done and that's one hurdle over, I hope the actual interview goes better for you. I have mine on Wednesday next and am not looking forward to it.

I have to agree with a few of you squirrelling money away at home. When saving for BR I was hording money in a lovely lilac cash tin and I have to admit I've got the taste for saving now (only wish i'd discovered this before getting over 50 grand in debt, but we are here to learn) I picked up a leaf...

I'll second that Ray, credit in general is the root of all evil (in my case anyway)

I have a cash plus mastercard and I find it really good, especially for paying bills online.

You could try the Abbey, they accepted us when we entered into a IVA. They gave us a cheque book and a visa electron card with no overdraft facility. They also do a very basic bank account, i've found them to be very good but have sadly lost this account now i'm bankrupt.

I had huge trouble with First Direct, even before they became one of my biggest creditors in my (now failed) IVA. I would get back onto them and point out their terms and conditions to them.

Thanks everyone, The OR rang just as I was picking my daughter up from school. He seemed ok and we went through some details, he's ringing back next wednesday at 9.30 am for the 'proper' interview.

I foolishly omitted some creditors from my IVA, a big nono so I think he will come down heavily on me for that. I was lead to believe that if you had little surplus income the OR wouldn't enforce an IPA. Have I got that wrong too then?

Hi all, I said I would try and get online to let you know how my day in court went so here goes. We dropped our daughter off at school then made a sharp exit to Lincoln County Court(we live near to Grantham) well what a farce trying to get there was! Appointment was at 10am so though we had ample ti...

Hi everyone, Won't have time to get online tomorrow before my appointment at 10am but I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped me, from deciding that BR was the best option to filling out the damn forms (im still printing them now!) I really hope the judge will accept that...
