Florida - Note that you have said previously that a car is vital for you for work and for kids to school. Was just wondering where you live - I know that you have said that you are in a great new place - is good old cheap public transport not an option?? - and how far away is the kids school from yo...

Purely as a devils advocate - presumably it could be argued that - if you have managed O.K. thus far without this extra money - it could be regarded as being above and beyond your required expenditure and - therefore - payable to creditors?? Your previous I + E calculation would have allowed for all...

That's interesting kallis. The ones I get are always clearly targeted at people with bad credit records - which makes me wonder where they get my details from. The only conclusion I can reach is that it must be the Insolvency Register - as how else would these companies pick me? Or is it just random...

I regularly get e-mails - almost daily - from what I assume are "introducing" companies inviting me to apply for this and other credit- building cards. It is bizarre as I still have a year left of my IVA and would not dream of applying. Presumably - if I did apply - the application would be immediat...

Hi Broke - Chiltern Railways / Piccadilly Line provide good alternatives if you are on the Amersham / Uxbridge branches of the Metropolitan Line. I had to work all over Christmas - got Central London Travelodge stays for £19 per night Christmas Eve / Christmas Day / Boxing Day. Shame about the Tube ...

Luluj - Hi and Good Evening. I always get shot down when I question peoples obsession with their cars - and can only ever comment specifically on the London area. But - it sometimes appears that some people think that they are somehow better than those who travel on the bus / tube and would rather c...

Foggy - I realise 100% that people outside the London area are in a totally different boat. I know from my own experience that London is largely unique in England as regards the brilliant service it provides in respect of Public Transport (Thank you Boris!!!). Two things I would say - 1) If anyone h...

I am not commenting in any way in respect of the original poster as I have absolutely no knowledge of their particular circumstances. Speaking personally - ny transport bills (Public Transport - Yes - it is open to all!!!) - have hardly increased at all. I pay £62 per week for travel that equates to...

Hi Kallis - I have seen the "Six-Month" suggestion posted on a number of threads but have not so far seen this in any official guidelines. It would seem to me that this would be a jolly good time for the powers that be to publish a commercially accepted proposal for how those facing either compulsor...

I agree - Your basic monthly payment should be based on your regular - guaranteed - basic income. You will be 100% responsible - as we all are - for also paying either the 50 / 50% (non-protocol) - or 10 / 50 / 50% (protocol) additional amounts in respect of income over and above your basic payment ...

Redundancy is becoming an unwanted reality for many people in the current economic climate - thanks it would seem largely due to the total profligacy and mis-management of previous administrations. But - politics is not the issue here. For those in the early / middle / late dtages of an IVA redundan...

Bren - Sorry if I am missing something here but - why not send your 50% (or 10% / 50% for the lucky Protocol people!!!) "Overtime" money in each and every month as an additional payment - (am assuming you receive it monthly??). That way there is never any chance of a big backdated bill. We all know ...

I appreciate your point of view Fuzzy Dunlop - but noone is obliged to enter into business with these "vile people". Signing for a credit card is a legal contract entered into voluntarily and - much as we may regret it later - noone twisted our arms to sign. We did it of our own free will. What happ...

I am a bit curious abot Sophie0119s post. O.K. - so one enters into an IVA in a "blind panic". By entering an IVA - presumably that means phoning an IVA company and sending in all the initial documents. BUT - one still has weeks / months whilst the proposal is prepared and the Creditors Meeting sche...

I initially contacted my IVA Company in early January 2007 - documents collated and submitted to Creditors in early February 2007 - Creditors Meeting in early March 2007. All nerve-wracking stuff but well worth the wait!!!!

Good Luck to you Rosepetal.
