Thank you for your welcome Kallis - I will hope to pop in now and again. With less than 18 months to go (hopefully!!) I remain optimistic for a successful completion - Good Luck to all - there will be good times and bad times but stick with it please - you are doing the right thing.

Some posters may remember me from way back - thank you very much to Andy Davie who has allowed me to be reinstated to the forum. I was so lucky in regard to this topic - I really had no idea who to contact in the first instance when I first sought assistance in 2006 / 2007. It really is difficult at...

Hi jc4 - Just a bit curious - you say that there were "errors" in your proposal. A proposal is a mega-important document which ties you in for 5 years. Obviously any one due to sign one will read it over and over again to make sure it is spot on BEFORE putting their signature to it . I read mine abo...

I just see so much of myself in what Steve is saying - gradually getting more and more into debt and telling myself that I still have X amount of cards / credit available. If only I could turn back the clock!!!! Steve - whatever you decide - I can say that when someone is living off their credit car...

Steve - You state that you now have nothing left to live on and are down to one credit card with some remaining credit. You use that to live on. Excuse me - but could there be ANYTHING less important right now than your credit rating??? You know as well as I do that unless you bite the bullet and go...

I would certainly recommend Debt-Free Direct. From Day 1 they set out my options - we had 3 in-depth phone conversations to make sure things were clearly understood - and a very accurate proposal was prepared - the BR option was fully explained to me AND they sent me a letter to once again remind me...

I think it is understandable for Creditors to be sceptical of informal "family" loans in an IVA - especially if they suddenly appear AFTER the IVA has started.

Andrew - I am in the second year of my IVA and still sometimes get (totally irrational) feelings that it is going to fail or that I am missing something that I should be doing!! Dont know why. And anyway - I am trying my best so if it does go wrong it wont be for want of trying on my behalf!!! Like ...

Charlotten - Hi - You have stated in your previous posts that 1) You knew from Day 1 that you could not afford your repayments required by your IVA (I assume you signed and accepted the initial proposal??) 2) You do not like IVAs!!!! Well - without wishing to get on my same old bandwagon - and apolo...

Ryan - So you live with your parents - you earn £28k with possibly more on the way - your debts are £17k. Can I ask you honestly and genuinely just one question - are you at all serious about wanting ro clear your debts??? I assume you must take home at least £1700 per month ( + your band money)???)...

EXCELLENT post luluj - you have just the right sort of attitude that will help prove to Creditors that debtors are genuine and honest about repaying their debts. As I see it Ryan has seen his pay increase from 14k to 28k with possible further dramatic increases. Surely with a low level of debt - 17k...

Andrew - I totally agree. An IVA is bound to have good months and bad. BUT if you approach it with determination and honesty throughout then noone can expect any more once the creditors and debtor have agreed a forward path. If we succeed after 60 months then that is brilliant - if we fail for some ...

I agree 100% with the above post. It is easy to forget just how desperate things were before we all entered into our IVAs and to forget that our responsibilities to our Creditors remain throughout. The 50% Overtime clause is perfectly fair - and newer starters have the even more generous 10 + 50 All...

Hi - drowning-mummy - at the end of the day only you can make the best decision as to what suits your own circumstances. I am in no position really to criticise anyone but I do just spout my own opinion that it is good to try and repay the most you can. I am 15 months in to my IVA and it is DESPERAT...
