Thanks Foggy. Sorry about the grammar in the last post but I had to rush it. I hope it didn't cause you too much of a problem as I know how busy you are!

Thanks for the advice Foggy I really appreciate it but was is a one off IVA? At my age we would not like to take on any more long term debt. Our mortgage is paid off in 30 months time and the current plan is to then sell up and downsize in order to pay off the DMP. Until such time if I were able to ...

Thank you Foggy and Leslie for your kind replies to my post. Foggy, we did try for an IVA for my wife but as there is around £160,000 equity in our property and as her debts including the joint accounts that I mentioned come to £42,000 we were told the same thing, no chance of an IVA. This company h...

Hi I am four years into a five year IVA. I have the equity release clause written into my contract but because of my age (68) and circumstances I believe it will be virtually impossible to re-mortgage so will have an extra year added in lieu. My son has offered me £5,000, which is the remaining two...

Thank you very much Michael and Andy for your advice. We have now decided to go for the IVA with confidence but with an eagle eye on the look out for the financial clauses. I can’t believe that it took me 3 years to find this site! Many sleepless nights in that time but no more so thanks to everyone...

Hi Thank you Michael and Luluj for taking the time to answer my post. I should have explained that I am already in an IVA with the same Company as my wife’s DMP and so re-mortgaging now is not an option. I am aged 65 now and as there is little chance of having to re-mortgage at month 54, with the ad...

Hi My wife is currently in a DMP and has been advised by the company that she can now apply for an IVA. There is at the moment twice as much equity in her share of our property as the debts she owes to her creditors. Also her initial payments will be really small until after the mortgage is paid off...

Hi

Sorry to but in on your post Struzzo and I hope that it is not a silly question but I was wondering if with joint owners the 85% loan to value relates to just the share of the equity of the person in an IVA or is it the total equity. left in the house.

Thank you everybody for kindly replying to this post. Melanie, I have read through all of my IVA paperwork but can find no mention of my state pension once I reached the age of 65. After your comments I wonder if my IP was even told of my request to defer. I was told that it would not be possible fo...

Hi Melanie Thank you very much for replying to my post. Yes, my business is struggling and every month I have to 'rob Peter to pay Paul' by taking the money from another part of my IVA budget to make up the shortfall in my business drawings in order to make the IVA payments. We don't smoke or drink ...

Hi Kazza Thank you for your reply. I am new to the forum so please forgive any lapses in etiquette. I am self employed and so hopefully carrying on with my business until at least my IVA is paid off. I say hopefully because without access to any sort of funding, even an overdraft facility it is a co...

I am 65 and nearly halfway through my IVA. I have been advised by my supervisor that I can defer my state pension until after the end of my IVA and build up a lump sum which will be mine and can't be taken at any time by my creditors. Is this correct?
