I thought that if your payments had increased there was no need to call a creditors' meeting to reduce them back to the original levels. It seems a complete waste of time to have to do that. Have you spoken to your IP, or to a member of his/her staff? We have on two occasions, it seems contribution...

I may have confused things. My wife and I began by paying around £850 monthly in a joint plan. This was based on her part time salery, my full time and the circumstances of the time. When her salery went full time this went up to over a thousand a month. The extra benefit we derived from the full ti...

Hi Melanie. Since our change in circumstances and last years adjustment there's a difference of around £250 more that we are having to find. The original proposal was just manageable, but we have had a 25 pounds a month increase in Council tax, £180 in rent and around £50 more in child care and hous...

Hi all, got a question I need to ask. My wife and I had an IVA agreed about two years ago, monthly payments were agreed, and a term of five years was approved. About a year ago, my wife went from part time to full time work. As a consequence we were asked to increase our contributions, the majority ...

Watching Mary Porta’s staggering up and down the streets of Tewkesbury, and listening to the very real concerns of retailers bemoaning the lack of retail in their small high St shops and boutiques, got me thinking. There seems to be a big problem in our country today. Thirty years ago only the upp...

We are in the early stages of our 4th year and can't wait for May 2011. The first year was no problem as it was the first time in years that we didn't have to work overtime just to get by. Sticking to a budget was a novelty and a challenge. My husband became ill at the end of the first year and had...

Andrew, were currently suffering second year drag. My wife and I are in the second year of our IVA, and everythings gone up, including the IVA's and we've had no payrise in the last two years. We pay over a thousand pounds a month between us and take home just over three thousand. This sounds great,...

After all the problems I had with Mercers, I just can't believe there still up to there old tricks. I think I developed a stomach ulcer over this lot. I often recount my experience with others, particularly with friends who I know have accounts with Barclays. They seem to represent just about everth...

Thanks for all the kind messages, I can't quite belive it myself
It's perfect for us, and hopefully means we can finish our IVA with a lot less stress!
I think being completely upfront and frank about our circumstances really helped a lot.

Good news for once. My wife and I have been forced to leave our rented home under section 21 and only had just enough money saved for a month’s advanced rent and deposit. Payplan helped us out here and let us off our payments for two months. We were really worried about our IVA on the credit file, b...

As far as I'm aware an IVA will not affect professions such as being in The Police or Armned Services, or impact on your ability to hold public office or act as a company director. However I believe it's illegal to hold this position while bankrupt. Perhaps your other Directors are confused over thi...

David, I very much agree with your post. You should respect your IPs decison to support your VA, taking advice from a third party who are promising to clear your debt has to be treated very suspiciously. As already stated always talk to your IP first if your struggling, either financialy or emotiona...
