Size5, despite Garys apparent bad judgement, I do think your being a little overly judgemental. We can sometimes make poor decisions, when were desperate, and this can cloud our behaviour. Don't forget glass houses, stones and all that. I think most of us on this forum have to be quite carefull wher...

JohnT - you can always request of your IP a discussion to discuss your reservations and/or concerns. You might be able to suggest a variation to cover one off special items for special reasons. How long has your IVA been running? I think Im just going through mid IVA blues at the moment. I've been ...

I guess this really depends on whether you've told your husband and he can help with repayment of the debt. If he can then a Dept Management Plan could be a possibility. If not then you may also consider a joint IVA, since the house hold cost are shared, and this will be be used along with your join...

sounds odd too me, I think you should either go with one of the IP professionals on this site and or approach the CCCS or Payplan. Some people refer to Bankruptcy as being more hostile than an IVA, although there are also those who stick with an IVA for a few years and find it's just not for them. B...

thanks all of you, particularly 'whattodo'. We've got time to consider yet, what were going to do, and your words of advice really resonate. I think since we have nothing of any value, cars only worth a few hundred pounds, and we rent, we may just take the plunge :) knowing we could do something, ma...

Well I've been taking and offering advice on the forum now for over a year, my wife and I have been paying into an IVA for nearly two, and we are beginning to find the IVA an emotional struggle more than anything else. Bear in mind we pay a £1000 a month between us into the IVA, and we have for a wh...

Just to cover Ian's concern, I believe 70% of diposable income applies over £500 a month, anything less than this is on a sliding scale, so 50% payable on £250 and so on. For your own circumstances you do need a pro to advise you on which way to go IVA or Bankruptcy... It very much depends on what a...

I have to agree with Melanie, unless you have sufficient equity in your property to repay your debt, then you will never pay it back.

Bankruptcy would be a typical soloution, unless you have additional income/assets that could repay your unsecured loans and credit.

One of the experts on here - Coveritall (his details are under the expert link on the left hand side of the page), provides all sorts of insurances and I've not heard anything bad about them. I was referring specifically to payment protection schemes on unsecured loans, which have recently been rec...

No - the insurance probably only covers you for accident, sickness and unemployment, and not financial difficulties. Yes unfortunately Melanie is correct. I would also mention that many of these payment protection schemes are pretty bogus at best, and reading through the small print, can often only...

I find this a slightly odd post. It seams from the question that the gravity of living with an IVA has'nt been properly understood. It is designed to help you become debt free, but only if you are willing to commit to the principle of it a hundred percent. If you don't do this it will fail. There ar...

100% mortgages died in May last year. You will need 20% or so value of the property just to get close to a decent rate. It's unlikely you'll get a Mortgage while in an IVA unless you have saved a very big deposit and can pay back at an extortionate interest rate. This is assuming you can find a lend...

I think that when we are being told we might lose our jobs, will have to cut back etc surely the least the MPs can do is make cutbacks rather than giving themselves payrises, pension increases, longer holidays etc. How many of them actually need their second homes? My big complaint about all govern...
