OK, I accept our political views are completely opposite (and wouldn't it be boring if we all agreed?!?), but IF it's Margaret Thatcher's fault, surely 12 years is enough to put it right? If they get in at the next elections, the Conservatives will inherit a bigger mess than they did in the 70s. Th...

I'm sure I remember reading that Payplan were originaly set up to help members of the Police force who were struggling with debt.
Could be wrong. I'll google and have a look around

I'm not sure Obama is going to make a lot of difference. I have friends in the States, and from what they've said Obama could end up being worse than Blair and Brown. It's thanks to this government that we are in such a deep recession - selling our gold at all time low prices, 'borrowing' from the ...

I used to advocate personal responsibility regarding borrowing. But now I fully understand the process of Securitisation and subprime lending, I can see the main banks, particularly in the US were driven by pure and simple greed. Unlike the average Joe, who you can’t really him/her blame for wanting...

they have a target to reach, more often than not people pay up, even when there's no good reason for them to so. It highlights some of the broader issues that are discussed here about our way of life and how much has to change. The banks are ultimately responsible for there's and everyone else’s dem...

Don’t even get me started with Mercer's. Constant harassment at work, threatening phone calls, really very unpleasant and confrontational. I've since learned from someone within the industry that managers at Mercers had a deliberate policy of encouraging call staff to be as uncompromising and threat...

Explain what you mean by your IP now offering far less support? Hi David We've been forced into moving recently and now were faced with a much higher monthly outgoing on our new rent, our IP seems unwilling to do anymore than extend the duration of our IVA. Here's a link to a post I made about this...

where abouts do you live because that rent is a gigantic amount. You can rent a 4 bedroomed house for about £550 here.

Near Woking, cost's a fortune. £550.00 would'nt even get you a one bed.

So Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are promising to bail out all those with massive mortgages, living a celebrity lifestyle on a civilian salary. Payplan are pretty busy at the moment. They may not check your incomming. Mine wern't checked after the first year, although my circumstances havn't changed, mores the pity.
Put the money away like you say. If it dosn't get picked up then, you'll have a nice little nest egg.

As you say it does seem unnecessarily inflexible. I'm quite happy to continue paying, and they've been all too happy to increase the amount we pay them since September. I have considered bankruptcy, but I’m sure this could be resolved if the IP will negotiate a bit more. I think Andy's advice is cor...
