Hi tres. I'm sure some of the experts will post later once they have finished their 'day' jobs but I can tell you what I did. My IVA was done through Grant Thornton and was a full and final settlement IVA. We remortgaged 85% to value and released £43500 equity which gave the creditors 39p in the £ a...

My husband is self employed and his van was on hp and excluded from the IVA because he needed it for work. We were also allowed to keep mobile phone contracts to the end of the contract and then expected to go to pay as you go. If you can operate your business with a basic bank account then you woul...

Hi Joe If you can afford to remortgage now and release some of the equity you could look at a lump sum IVA which is what I did, this would give your creditors a full and final settlement upfront and can be completed in 6 months. As Kezza has said check with a few companies, the ones that post on her...

My IVA was a full and final settlement one which meant my IVA was finalised within a year, however I am aware that this will show on my credit records for 6 years. We did'nt pay off our debt quicker Janet unless you paid 100% back we only paid a % of our debt and the rest was written off, therefore ...

Hi Adam If your date has been set, then advise your creditors to contact your IP. If your IVA has been approved (and I would be very suprised if yours is not as you are paying back most of your debt) then just tell them that you are now in an IVA and to undate their records, it does take a while for...

I Can't say to you don't be scared because I did'nt sleep or eat for days before my creditors meeting. I did'nt pay anything bar the odd £5.00 token payment for 5 months before my IVA and the same as you interest and non payment fees stacked up. Your IP will have submitted the best possible offer to...

I work full time but my husband is self employed sole trader and we had an IVA.
I don't know about part time.
You really need to speak to one of the companies that help on this site to find out if you are insolvent first and go from there

If your outgoings are more than income then you are basically insolvent. I would contact your local Citizens Advice Debt Management, rather than CCCS as they tend to recommend debt management programmes which do not protect you legally from your creditors or freeze interest. If you are insolvent and...

Hi Mark
The Halifax do a basic account with a visa electron card which is what I have, I believe the Co-op do a similar account with a solo card. You definately need to have an account with a bank that has no relationship to any of your creditors. So Nat West is a no no
