I stand corrected. You are right, they cannot ask you to pay the water rates according to the technical manual. I was unaware that they treated water rates in a different way from council tax. I would definately bring that up with the water authority. Good luck with that, and let us know what happen...

This is right. The bankruptcy only covers debts up to the date of the order, after this you are liable for your bills, and so will have to pay your council tax and water rates for the period from the date of your order to the end of their current year in March 08. You should contact the authorities ...

Yes this is normal. The file will have to go back to the original examiner for review of your I&E. At this time of year it is possible they are taking some holidays etc.
There would be no harm in calling to find out if you wish.

No Andy, you are right. They just want to make sure if anyone benefits creditors do. If no one benefits because the policy lapses then no one is better off than the creditors. You can protect the policy by buying it back for one year's premiums, and in some cases this is a more economical way to hav...

Sorry, missed the bit about the car tax and insurance. Put the £50 down anyway, as if you only put £40 you have enough surplus for an IPA of around £50pm

You can try for £350 and see what they say. This would leave you with a small surplus but not enough to mean an IPA

Good news about the car.
I would be happy to have a look at your I&E and give you some pointers on what you can get approved.

Upinsmoke I'm afraid this is only the case for life policies and not endowments. Endowments can be cashed in before death and so there is some asset available for creditors immediately. andymac My understanding is that once you have bought back the policy from the OR they let the assurance company k...

Skippy Why not call the examiner at the OR's office and explain to them that most of your pay rise has been taken up with increased expenses. If you are able to afford any payment to them at all, let them know how much you can or can't pay. Remember they are human beings after all, just with a not v...

Definately offer them less. They need to factor in costs of sale, commission etc. after all. Any chance you could make it look shabby, take the tax disc out maybe, lose the spare tyre?
