We do have mortgage protection for what its worth. It is a split with my portion being 40% (I think, without looking for the paperwork).

Looks like we have no choice but to do the bankruptcy route. Bad enough for my husband and I but it will affect my daughter worse I think.

The way the property market is zero equity - that is if we could even sell it and unsecured debts are around 59k.

We are in a short term dmp, and it looks as though I may be made redundant in the next month or so. I have only been with the company just over 4 years so I won't get enough to give any substantial money to debtors and it also leaves me with the problem of finding another job, which at my age and in...

They sent me an extra card and when I asked to cancel it, they told me that I had to put it in writing. Unfortunately for me I didn't get round to it, but they gave me ridiculously high credit limits - £10,800 on one card!

As our loans were all protected, why is it that these can't protect you when you have a reduction of income?

The payments are very high and now when you need the help it appears that you have wasted your money and would have cleared the debts in half the time, and probably not got in this situation.

If we are only allowed that much I don't know how or even if it is worth living. My bills were £160 a week roughly and I have cut them down as much as I can but they are still over £100 and having to commit to this for 5 years. I am already having difficulty coping with my job because of the stress ...

I am sure you will get an answer from the Forum. I suffer from stress badly too. I was at work yesterday and my vision went beserk and I constantly get headaches/neck aches. I want a miracle to save me from this but know it is a long process, and it doesn't help when you are not so young either!!!

How do you manage on that? We live in Midlands and our bills are a lot higher (husband, daughter, 2 dogs, 3 cats). The animals are minimal as I feed the cats/dogs on Lidls food. Our problem is our fuel bill has just increased - double what we were paying monthly - and food/fuel has increased of cour...

Ideally I would prefer to sell the house in the UK as I have no wish to stay here once I retire (in fact I would move tomorrow). We would happily live in a cheap old rented property than give this up. The property may not be worth much to most people but to me it is our future. The French are much s...

Apparently so. The Estate Agents told us that the market has been dreadful since last summer. The house is a restoration project so there is still lots of work to do on it. Not sure if that would affect it also. When we bought they could not find enough of these types of property. Possibly with the ...

Their shortfall would be minimal as the outstanding mortgage currently is 50k Euros and would expect to get not far short of this amount depending on how much notaire and 5% estate agents fees are taken.

Does that mean that the French bank becomes involved? As I wasn't sure how this EU communication works, if at all.

If we sold below the outstanding mortgage debt we owe to the bank in France could this debt be included in an IVA?
Prices have dropped drastically in France due to Nicholas Sarkozy and the general recession over here, which has resulted in a lack of interest plus a massive drop in prices.[?]

Can't help feeling that if all these companies behaved in a more responsible way maybe most of us would not be in the situation we are in now. How many of us took out credit cards, etc at low interest rates to find them at 16.9% within a year. Or loans where the payment protection is in the thousand...
