My own opinion is that under the circumstances an IVA at £100/mth may well be the best option. It would protect the property and be an affordable payment. It would be a low dividend for the creditors, but I think could work. It will mean they have the peace of mind to know the property is protected ...

I would think if you have lived together in the property for some while it is highly likely that creditors would feel you have a beneficial interest in the property and it will come into play in the IVA. You will, I think, have to disclose all household income and outgoings inc your husbands pay. As...

There are usually ways of getting a rental property with a poor credit rating - whether in an IVA or not. In terms of the debts, it is important to know how much you can afford to repay after meeting priority outgoings of rent/bills, food, travel etc. If the current £340/mth on debt repayments is af...

A lot depends on whether the pension is compulsory or voluntary, and whether its deducted from your salary or its private. And how much it is. Usually reasonable pensions that have been ongoing for a while are allowed.

Hi - if you could clear the OD there would still be a problem if you have a CC with that bank. Very probably you would need to switch banks. Possible exception is Barclays/Barclaycard. who may allow you to keep a non OD account whilst a B'card is in the IVA.

I agree with the others - if you have no joint accounts, your debt should not affect your partner. No reason in principle why you shouldn't apply for an IVA while she arranges for a mortgage in her name.

Companies do vary in the number of "clean" months statements required - from 1 month upwards. Worth checking with a few different IVA companies.

I agree - it's definitely worth speaking to more than one company. The monthly payment you make in the IVA or any debt plan needs to be genuinely affordable, allowing you to live properly throughout the plan where you will have little or no access to credit.

Hi Holly, you provide pretty good summary of the options open to you. All are valid and all sound as if they would work - so it is down to personal choice. I tend to agree with Fogy that if a F&F IVA were an option it could sort things out quicker and the windfall clause would be for the shortest ti...

Hi Maryon, I'm afraid I'm not aware of Money in Control - hopefully others who post will have some knowledge/experience. Our general advice is to speak to 2 or 3 different companies for help/advice and then make a decision as to which you feel happiest with.

Hi - agree with the others - definitely worth chatting to several companies to compare. If the relationship is over and he is soon to move out then certainly an IVA/DMP could be considered with just your income/outgoings etc.
