I have heard of this before - a creditor being over-cautious thinking that maybe the IVA would fail part way through as income level drops. In my experience, once the debtor has assured the IP/creditor that they will manage to maintain payments even in the changing circumstances, then it tends to go...

Hi, my understanding is that the "normal guidelines" to cover pet food/insurance is £34 total. This must seem impossibly low for pet lovers - especially if there are special circumstances. Its just that from the creditors' perspective, they want as much of their debt back as possible. I agree with L...

Its always a nervous time waiting for the creditors meeting. I think it is highly unlikely that the use of the credit cards as you mention will cause the IVA to fail. The Insolvency Practitioner must believe the IVA will succeed by putting it forward. Good luck with everything!

Hi - its never a bad idea to talk to more than one iva company in order to compare companies and their advice. Its a big decision and one that you should not be rushed into without some thorough research. There is absolutely no problem with chatting with someone else despite having a proposal ready ...

Foggy is right - you can't transfer IVA company once the IVA has been set up and agreed. Many people speak to more than one company before deciding which is the right one for them.

There is a big difference entering an IVA with an existing mortgage and applying for a mortgage once in an IVA. Maybe half the people in IVA's have existing mortgages and all is well as long as they maintain payments. As mentioned, it may be difficult to switch lenders or get a new fixed rate deal b...
