I am on the committee of the operatic society I belong to. The committee is applying to become a charitable trust and I we have been told that all members of the committee have to be on the board of trustee and that if you are not a trustee you cannot be on the committee. My question is how does tha...

Thanks for that Melanie - no its my fault as I thought I could only change direct debits not standing orders. I will email IP office on Tuesday and will just have to request payment break for the next one instead of this one and see if I can get help elsewhere for the rest of the month.

As far as I am aware you can't cancel standing order's - it has to be the company that collects it that cancels it. The payee can only control direct debits. I do my banking on line and it clearly shows I can cancel direct debits but does not give me the facility to cancel standing orders.

Absolutely mentally and physically exhausted and this has just about finished me off. Posted last week about husband being ill and struggling and then requested payment break. Payment break granted for this month (May) and felt relieved as could just about manage. Absolutely mortified to find the pa...

Some of my creditors were very good and others very bad. Barclays passed their debt to Mercers who were still very threatening even once my IVA was started being processed. MBNA (Alliance and Leicesters phone calls were always very polite but usually different - "let our IVA department help you", "y...

the link Kallis suggests is a good way of looking for IP's. Professionals on this forum give good advice and support. I was advised to look at 2 or 3 so that I felt comfortable with who I went with. Best advice was make sure anyone in the company you speak to makes you feel as comfortable as you wil...

I am with Melanie's team and they are all as helpful post IVA as pre-IVA. Like others have said I was advised to talk to 2 or 3 companies before making my mind up and at least it makes you sure you are doing the right thing. All IP's on here would give good advice and service. This forum is invaluab...

I like you deliberated for ages and spent long nights on this forum gathering all the info I thought would help. In the end it is up to you but like everybody else has said - get your info together and talk to 2 or 3 IP. I talked to more than one IP and certainly understood what people meant by you ...

I felt uncomfortable at first as I had been brought up to face up to your responsibilites but I don't feel embarrassed about entering into an IVA now at all. Some people don't want to tell their friends but I have told anybody that matters (apart from my husbands family as they don't like me anyway ...
