A person will be prompted to get free independent advice before the application but as far as I know there is no tick box or requirement to seek advice prior to submitting the application.

The application itself is lengthy and asks for everything the statement of affairs did so that's not quicker, but you can pay online and the verification is quick, so although I haven't actually submitted one yet, and I won't know exactly until 5th April, yes, it would be possible to do that Andy!

No, there is no cooling off period.

You can log in and out of the application as and when and then at the end you will need to pass a verification.

Then you can submit your application. Once you've done this, you can't change your mind.

If there is a PPI claim from PPI dating back to before the bankruptcy court date, then any money from a successful claim will either be offset by the bank, or claimed by the official receiver.

It doesn't matter if it's after discharge, it will always go to the OR (or be kept by the bank)

Just to reassure anyone who is bankrupt, you will still be discharged at the normal time. The PPI issue is not stopping automatic discharge.
