I opened two savings accounts with NatWest. I opened a basic Step account when I entered my IVA and I went online quite soon after and opened the accounts without any problems. I used them to save my allowances for car costs etc so they weren't sitting in my day to day bank account. Having now had a...

Speaking from personal experience I made the best offer I could, which in my circumstances was only a few hundred short of what the creditors would have got had I carried on with payments for the next 3 years. You say you have 35 x £299 left which is £10465. I would say the closer you can get to thi...

My original payment was £347 on debts of around £55K but after a variation (following a change from full to part time hours) this dropped dramatically to £188. £300 on debts of £40K would seem to return a resonable dividend to the creditors so I would definately take the advice of 2 or 3 different c...

Thanks everyone for all the Congrats. Actually what is more remarkable is the original dividend when the IVA was proposed in July 2004 was 24p in the pound. I then had to have a variation when there was a big shake up at work which resulted in my going from full to part time. The new dividend was ag...

There was only going to be a difference of about £500 so by the time it was all worked out the dividend came out the same. To be honest I could have gone in with a lower offer and seen what happened but I felt that personally I should make the best offer I possibly could and as I was offered £7000 b...

OMG! I'm still shaking. Just had a call from GT and they have confirmed that my F&F offer has been accepted Meeting was at 10am today and she called at 10.40am. Can't believe it! I knew the offer was reasonable - I have approx 3yrs left to pay and was offering £7000 as F&F just a fraction short of w...

Hi all A close friend has offered me a lump sum in order to try to settle my IVA early. I've done the maths and I have 42 months left at £188pm. So I calculate I'll pay a total of £7896, between now and the end. I want to make an offer of £7000, which considering I will have probably paid another co...

This has happened to me too. They cancelled the Wilson Phillips one and set up a new one for one month which is now cancelled. I checked my bank this morning and there isn't a new one set up yet so i will be calling them later to see what is going on.

I was very nervous about telling my parents particularly my mum. Infact I waited till it was all signed and sealed before I told her what I had done. She was incredibly supportive and just took the view that I was being very responsible and facing up to the fact that things had got out of hand. My D...

I had a payrise just a few months into my IVA. I didn't realise that I needed to tell my IP (Doh!) but put the extra money into a savings account and assumed that it would all be picked up at my first annual review. I've just had the review (with Grant Thornton) and although my monthly amount has in...

I was really scared to tell my boyfriend and my parents, I thought they would be dissapointed but my parents were great and told me they were proud that I was taking a responsible decision and had acknowledged I needed help. My boyfriend basically said 'no problem, what can i do to help' I hope it a...
