I have been advised by Stepchange that an IVA is my best course of action to deal with my now spiralling debts. In the past 2 years I have lost my business, my marriage has ended and my physical and mental health are both poor. I have been declared unfit for work by the DWP and living off Universal...

Making any token payments will have no beneficial impact on any creditor meeting. Genuinely think any monies should be set aside for a contingency fund.
Going for an iva usually means you are out of options and cannot continue to meet your payments, it certainly was for us.
Best of luck.

I'd be careful not to save up "too much", as it may look like you have excess spare cash floating about. Savings should be encouraged during an IVA because the chances of going 5 years plus without some some of disaster(appliance breakdown etc), is practically nil!! Good luck with your iva journey. ...

Seems such a long time after completion for anyone to be trying to get anything off you, even as Foggy suggests its just a company that has bought a bad debt bundle. You can rest easy knowing they cannot chase you nor should they harass you to make any payment.

I think it may be best to come clean about the card and deal with it head on. Nobody benefits from your iva failing and you certainly are not the first person to use credit during an iva.
Hopefully your case manager will understand the choices you have made.

Brilliant news. Its amazing how you get a savings bug after going through such hard times.
My son was a teenager when we went through our insolvency and I'm so pleased even he learned lessons on how not to run his finances due to our mistakes.

I wouldnt save such large amounts monthly in any account the IVA provider can ask about.
Seems a rather large figure and I'd be very concerned that in 5 years time somebody would come knocking that I was due to pay xxxx amount extra!!!

Whst a frankly disgusting way to act. Its quite clear what is likely to happen, with them being able to adjust payments whenever they like.
No idea why governing bodies would allow a firm running IVAs to do so in such a fashion!!!!

My IVA payments are bigger than my mortgage each month
How long have you been in the IVA?
Has anything changed significantly income or expenditure wise??
