Thanks for the replies. I intend to use the internet for tyres as they are cheaper, but unfortunately the tyres on my car are huge, so cost quite a lot anyway. I will look at part worn aswell. I am more than willing to pay a bit extra each month, I could do some overtime at work to fund this. I will...

Hi, I am 16 months into my IVA and all has been going well up to now. My car is in desperate need of repairs. The MOT is due end of this month and I need 4 new tyres,a few other minor repairs and a new windscreen as it is cracked, (although the insurance will pay most of it, there is a £70 excess)....

My partner always buys lenses online from the USA, they have the same brands as here at 1/2 the price. If you dont want to order from overseas, then it is definitely worth ordering online, you will save a packet compared to High Street prices. You can still visit the optician to get a prescription, ...

I will speak with my IP. Hopefully they will be in agreement as I would normally be able to cover this extra with overtime. Although this is not always guaranteed. My only concern with a car for £3000 is that I could end up again with high maintenance costs due to the high milage I need to do each y...

My car is on its last legs. I urgently need a new car as I do about 15,000 miles per year, mainly commuting. My ex partner, and very good friend has offered to help me to buy another vehicle and I suspect would give me about £3000. I was just wondering if this is allowed, or would this be counted as...

Lisa.76. Yes it would be advisable to open another account with a bank that has no interest in your debt. If you keep the account that you currently have then your bank my offset their debt against any monies payed in. There are a few banks that will accept you for a basic account. The Co-op, Yorksh...

I had a similar experience, albeit my pay increase was not as much as your husbands. I was also told that I needed to wait until my annual review but that in the meantime the 10% 50/50 rule would apply to the pay increase + overtime. I would suggest similar may apply to yourselves. You may find that...

I have re-opened this thread for info of all members. I wrote to my IP and also sent 3 full months of petrol receipts to back up my claim that I was indeed paying out £190 pcm for fuel. My allowance was only £130 pcm, leaving me with a shortfall of £60. I also expained all expenses and sent copies o...

Thanks all for the replies. I will take this up with my IP at my review this month and will present all evidence to them. My main concern here is that if the overtime dries up as it is expected to in the present financial climate, then I would not be able to afford the extra £60 pcm for fuel, and ot...

What is the upper limit on allowance for fuel and vehicle running costs? I currently spend approximately £190 pcm on fuel and the vast majority of my milage is taken by commuting to and from work. I harldly use my vehicle socially any more. My car tax is currently £235 per year. My IVA gives a fue...
