I understand what you are saying. It was just a general point that any advertising you see for IVA's is often about debt write off and there is so much more to an IVA than that. In my case it is peace of mind and feeling that I am paying back as much as I can. I guess the point I was making is that ...

Melanie, I completely agree with the points you have made, but think that the advertising of IVA's gives the wrong impression and often focuses on the debt write off aspect as the headline message. In fact, if you look at this website, the message at the top of most pages has the following text: Do ...

As an update, we have now written to our IP and asked that the 12 month extension is not put in place on the basis that we cannot re-mortgage and there is only 12% equity in the property anyway due to the fall in house prices. Fortunately we will still meet the minimum dividend as the we were not re...

Unfortunately Andrew Graveson no longer does mortgages, but he put me in contact with Mark Thompson of Spire Mortgages who was very helpful, but could not help in the current market conditions.

Does any body know of any companies that can be approached with respect to re-mortgaging? I have maybe 15% equity at present and would at least like to re-mortgage even for a small amount to satisfy the conditions of the IVA.
Thanks

I have seen a number of missed payment posts recently and was wondering where you stood if you missed a payment by agreement with your IP and paid it back before the next Chairman's report. Does this still count as a missed payment even if you ensure that you are up to date within the agreed period?

Thanks for all the responses. In summary my understanding is that I get the valuation and show that I have made efforts to re-mortgage. If there was any value that I could gain from re-mortgaging (up to 85%) but cannot due to the current environment, they could ask me to extend for a period to gain ...

Michael, We initially offered £3k of equity by way of proceeds of re-mortgaging, but this was amended to say that the debtors must re-mortgage in the 4th year and make the proceeds available for the benefit of the creditors. If the debtor is unable to obtain a re-mortgage the arrangement may be exte...

Thanks for the response. It is unlikely that I will be able to re-mortgage as I have only 5-10% equity. I spoke to GT about the re-mortgaging and they just kept quoting that if I refused to re-mortgage that I would be in breach so I will go through the hoops to prove that I cannot re-mortgage, but m...

Hi, I have seen a number of re-mortgage questions recently and Brightside Mortgages were mentioned (I think). I rang Brightside Mortgages and were told that they had been bought out by Spire Mortgages. Is there still a Brightside Mortages and does anybody know of any other companies that could offer...

Hi Caroline, I had a similar problem when I was in my first year of my IVA and wanted to move house. I had to reach agreement with both my IP and mortgage provider, which felt arduous at the time as there were a number of hoops to jump through. Ultimately the answer was yes and I have been in my new...

Melanie, thanks for the response. The company I work for has just told me that they will extend my period of work as there is still a short term need for me to continue working for them. I still have the threat of not having a job, but may have a six month breathing space. Would this chnage there po...

I am being made redundant from work and have just received notification of my Annual Review.I informed my IP as soon as I was put at risk, but had to call them and remind them of my situation and to be fair they have been very good and said that they will just want my wife's pay slips rather than my...

Hi Angelrainbow
I have a debit card on my account and had this included as part of my IVA agreement. It does seem to vary from IVA to IVA, so not sure whether there are any rules around it. Definately no overdraft though, despite Barclays repeatedly offering me one, but they have now got the message.

Thanks for the comments to date. I understand that the creditors will want to see a share of it, but the reality appears that they will want any additional money above the cost of living increases. This means that any benefit I receive from working extra hours to get this increase is lost. If I was ...
