Whoa there!! I posted this on behalf of a friend (Jim) who doesn't have an email address! I'm glad to say 1. Yes - my IVA is nearly done and 2. The HMRC are not after me. I did start the message as 'Jim - C/O this email address but it didn't show on the 'ask the experts a Q' entry. So its bankruptcy...

I am self employed but work is drying up and I have been at loggerheads with HMRC for years. I now have had a statutory demand served under section 268(1)(a) from the commissioners of HMRC issued against me in the amount of £35,000 and there is no way I can afford it. Have no property or assets to ...

Thanks Foggy - £3Kish then. A dizzying amount to show for 30 years of homeownership and 18 years left on the mortgage so I'll be working til 71. Perhaps we'll end up in a caravan. How did it all go so wrong....

Coming to the end of this now.... I have a joint mortgage with my wife (who is not in an IVA) of £135,000 against value of around £200,000. We also have a joint secured loan on the house which has a redemption value of £62,000. Am I right in thinking that the the equity of £65,000 is split between u...

That was always a reason not to change jobs but you wouldn't expect a current employer to go looking.... and that could scupper us for the IVA plus a further 6 years then.

You get less for murder.

Really bad show - maybe best to be up front and tell them

Is a bank you work for?

Hi All, no posts for a long time from me although I look in from time to time. A friend and work colleague was the only person I told about my IVA outside close family. I had to do this because I was a signatory on a work bank account. We had to apply for an additonal account due to operational reas...

Haven't been on the board for a long time but a friend of mine is struggling to pay tax bills from way back to the tune of around half his income each month (self employed). Trouble is the amount never seems to go down apparently due to added interest and he's just treading water. One of his regular...

If you have a loan secured on your house then does this count against any equity when calculating whether you are going to have to serve a further 12 months?

No point at all in making nominal payments - I did this initially for one month but my mobile phone was alight every 5 minutes irrespectively - appeasement doesn't come into it. I just stopped answering or taking any calls. If you want to know whether anyone cares if you're alive or dead - just miss...
