Oh goodness, how rude of me. I never logged back in to reply. Anyway our daughter Finley (yes I know its more common for boys!) was safely delivered at home 4th Feb. That would have been dad's 60th birthday had he lived. The neighbourhood we lived in was a bit rough - horrible neighbours so at 1st o...

Thank you Melanie. It was August he died and when everything else changed for the better. Very strange. We are expecting a daughter BTW. Soon I will be able to say that in 6 months I lost a father, gained a daughter, changed jobs and moved house.
Similarities with David Cameron end there

Wow it's been a while. Anyway, fate took a a strange turn. My dad was admitted to hospital at exactly same time we had a viewing on our house which resulted in a favourable offer the next day (Friday 13th August). 7 hours hours after we accepted the offer, I got the news about my dad and well.....I ...

Thanks Dave Agreed - necessary repairs and new baby could well be the way forward. I reckon a solid proposal with photographs of areas of the house which need urgent repair could do the trick. Perhaps to emphasise that I'm not taking the rise a photo of the underside of the roof from inside the atti...

Dave - Sorry just realised another point there mate. The Equity release in our IVA is not the usual 75% of any available equity. It is a flat £10,500 and won't exceed that figure so any rise in equity should be irrelevant to the creditors. It really does just boil down to appealing to their better n...

Hi Dave Thanks for your contribution. I fully understand the first point you are making but I am suggesting on the basis of actually making the house habitable and sellable. The current state it is in is having a lowering effect on any equity. I could even show them pictures for goodness sake. Rain ...

Not discussed anything yet - testing the concensus here as there is a lot of informed expertise to draw upon. Like you say Michael, getting a few quotes sounds reasonable and I am in the process of getting some. Had one for the Guttering which is £750 - £800. There's just under 2 months worth of rem...

Hmm it's getting a bit conflicting now lol. The most recent Annual Report basically conceded that the remainder of the IVA was now on an informal basis ie. No request for I & E or payslips as it was running it's natural course and would have taken 7 years to complete. By your question Melanie do you...

Hi OK. Quick recap. Joint IVA started with Accuma, now Grant Thornton in March 2004. Total debt approx £37,500. IVA terms 52p in the pound with year 4 equity release of exactly £10,500 Credit crunch and recession came, couldn't get remortgage so IP agreed to extend a year. I advised IP was putting h...

It's fixed. We don't have meters here (more's the pity). Haven't paid anything since July. Cheekily cancelled DD for a month to free up a little more cash for a Wedding do out of town and well, lets just say a few unrelated things came crashing down not long after and it just got forgotten about

I won't be in a position to pay quickly. 6 to 10 months I wouls say. I'm not really ruffled about CCJ being on record. After all, the IVA will be on record for 6 years after it ends anyway. Is there really much point explaining anything to IP if payment terms are accepted? I did take a 2 month payme...

Doh!!! Been a bit of a blithering idiot. Our IVA is 6 years old in March and probably due to end a year later at the latest (couldn't get the remortgage to raise £10,500 equity release)unless our house sells in the meantime. Anyway got into a few minor difficulties with Water board. Nothing which co...
