My wife and I have an unsecured element to our mortgage with Northern Rock and my IVA was accepted on the basis that she keeps up the payments for the unsecured part every month. So it is possible!

I would like to take a mortgage payment holiday as my car needs some quite major repairs such as suspension and sorting out alloys which are cracked and could buckle.... Would I need to hand over any money into the IVA or would I be ok as I would still be making normal payments into the IVA. Any adv...

I'm coming up to nearly a year in my IVA and the first year has just disappeared which isn't a bad thing! I do have to agree that it has certainly my relationship with my wife much stronger, especially as she only found out about there being any debt few months before the IVA started. She has not on...

It isn't necessarily the case that it will increase as my wife will not be working out there so unless accomodation is provided, we will be paying rent out there so there could not be a major difference. However, if there is then yes I understand that contributions will need to increase and thats no...

I just have a few queries regarding my IVA which I hope someone can answer. I am looking to move abroad to Dubai and work for a few years and wondered what impact it would have on my IVA. The main issue is putting my house up for rent. As long as I don't make a profit from the rental, is there an is...

Its helpful at the start of the process to save some money from not paying your creditors as you can save quite a bit for a contingency fund that way as 5 years is a long time and there are always things going wrong, e.g. boilers, cars, etc. I know this isn't relevant once you are 7 months in but us...

I have been in an IVA for a month now and to be honest, from the day it was accepted I have had one phone call from Barclays and another from Santander and once I mentioned I was in an IVA, I haven't heard anything since. Considering I had 12 creditors, thats not a bad result so trust me, the doom a...

Brilliant isn't the word but you are still wary that the hard work starts now for the next 5 years.....BUT I still feel that will be nothing compared to worrying about the phone calls and a knock on the door.....and I am very lucky to have a wonderful mother-in-law (Only person that knows!) who is t...

Have been in a meeting but got the phone call from Mels office at 1.15pm to say the IVA has been approved! Slight modification in the amount I have to pay back but its only minimal! So relieved its all over and I can start the long road to recovery! I would like to thank Mels team as they have been ...
