with a standing order it is a set amount so you do know how much the bill is.

you put some more money in the account or if thats not possible you arrange to pay later. With a dd you cant adjust the payment date without cancelling DD and starting a new one up.

I will change the payments to standing orders at a set budget and then up the payments or decrease the payments to suit how the actual spend against budget.

I realise that the bank can refund it but a DD for your phone will fluctuate and they dont write and tell you every time what the amount is.

DD is not being in control of your money as it can be varied by the company drawing the DD without requiring your approval.

you shouldn't have to pay extra to be in control of your money.
