Thank you for your responses - I have just one more - an IP is essential and I am gpoing to see to that on Monday. I ahe been reading about Melanie Giles - she seems to be sympathetic to the plight of the debtor. Has anyone used her please to their benefit.

I am hoping to do an IVA but being 70 (I come from a long lived family thank goodness)I will not be able to remortgage or take another charge on the house so I will not be able to release equity. Will creditors allow a six year repayment or does the IVA end after 5 years come what may?

what allowances are given in an iva for food and household items ect for 3 people; also is there an allowance for contingencies incase something crops up?
