Topic: Please can someone help!! I need a new boiler. IP won't let me borrow, I'm really at a loss

I guess it depends on payment as to whether a payment break would help. Our boiler broke and we were allowed a payment break, good thing was our monthly payment was high. Some payments seem to be only a small amount relative to the cost of a boiler. Hopefully you will get something sorted, if you ha...

Topic: How can I get clarity on whether I can claim the decrease in social housing rents

Apologies if I have misunderstood but whilst you're in an iva, it will make no difference to you, just your creditors unless you're repaying in full. Any decrease in rent will increase your disposable income and increase payment to creditors.

Topic: Told my pension lump sum, which is much greater than my debt, has to be paid into IVA. Why ?

In an iva you always owe the total original debt plus statutory interest(unless specifically excluded) plus fees. If your pepension lump sum is greater, you will get to keep any surplus. Was the lump sum mentioned in your original proposal?

The iva will be on your file for six years regardless of whether you finish early or not.

Equity really depends on your wording in your proposal. Some take 85% of the available equity as a figure and some work out 85% ltv. It makes a difference going forward.

As it does say third party, I assume. that would include Select. Are you 100% certain that you have equity?

I wouldn't be happy but then again it's all information readily available on the internet o the insolvency register. Not happy about that either but that's a whole other story! Complain though for sure.

I totally agree. I have many blog entries concerned about the effects of an iva on our child but it's taught him to work hard to get rewarded and he really is appreciative when we do surprise him with things. We are now debt free, apart from a mortgage, thanks to an iva. We would probably still have...

Mickdh50, I believe the term is joint and several liability giving the creditors the choice of who to claim the money from. I would be extremely surprised if they would allow a debt to be given to someone who has already declared themselves insolvent. Who are you with? They should have explained thi...

Kallis, I thought the wife could be asked for the full amount of an overdraft on a current account, not just half. I believe someone has said before they xan pay it off and then become a creditor of yours. Your IP should ttake this expenditure in to account though I think.

I would have been gutted to be transferred. Perhaps unfair to speculate but, if there are 2 IPs and one retires, if the other has capacity, couldn't they take over? It is a business when all is said and done and I suppose new cases are more lucrative as most fees seem to be paid during year 1. I do ...

Contact the female IP, Lisa, who posts on here. I think you will need specialist advice and a full understanding of what information would be available in the public domain. I know your address appears on the insolvency register.
Well done for taking positive steps to turn things around.

I remember adverts claiming all sorts re ivas. We were with Cleardebt and I think they deserve every penny, that said, I have always looked at it as though the creditors are paying the fees as they wrote off more debt because of them. I would like to hope I would have thought the same had I had been...

It's a strange feeling and some of the habits will never leave!

I still begrudge paying full price for many things, still check the bank everyday and still like a bargain!

Congratulations! Enjoy your debt free future!
